Creativity will be put on display with students choosing their star color and deciding how to write their information on their star.

In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

This activity is an online resource, that uses Google Forms, and is linked to your Google Drive. It can be completed by students online using tablets, phones or computers, and is easily assessed by teachers as all the answers are provided in a quick and easy format.

Time allowance to complete:

5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.

40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)

Time allowance to assess:

A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. This is because the aim is to get students writing answers and not to just have multiple choice options.

Please ensure when you download this resource into Google Drive that you are logged in to the gmail account where you wish to store the activity. In the past teachers have downloaded resources into their school account in error. Thanks :)

A great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events, legends and famous figures of the Middle Ages. There are 33 posters or task cards that include many of the key events including the War of the Rose, the rule of Charlemagne, the feats of Joan of Arc, the Viking raids and the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

Bring medieval history to life with this no prep activity that is interactive and engaging lesson plan that uses Minecraft Education to teach students about the evolution of medieval castles with a premade world for students to use. This comprehensive resource is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of different types of castles, their purpose, and the reasons behind their architectural changes over time.

The lesson plan includes five distinct lessons, each focusing on a specific type of castle: Motte-and-Bailey, Shell Keep, Curtain Wall, Keep-and-Bailey, and Concentric. Students will not only learn about these castles but also build their own models in Minecraft, making the learning process more hands-on and immersive.

What this task includes:

• Complete Starter world (.mcworld file) with important hosting instructions
• Detailed lesson plans for five lessons, each focusing on a different type of castle.
• Clear objectives and success criteria for each lesson.
