It provides students with a chance to reflect on their music preferences while learning about musical terms, and about an online music streaming site. It is a chance for your students to curate their own playlists. This activity is suitable for grade 6-8 students. This activity also gives teachers a chance to get to know the music preferences of their students to help create future lessons based on their interests. This lesson could be adapted to be used with other online music streaming websites. The lesson also encourages students to start to discuss music in ways beyond “I like this song”. This is a 32-page set of worksheets to help grade 6 students practice the R.A.C.E.S. Writing Strategy. The R.A.C.E.S. Writing Strategy (Restate, Answer, Cite, Explain, Summarize) is a method that students can use to write meaningful responses to questions about a written text.

For each week in the WonderWorks Interactive Worktext for Grade Six, there is one question for students to answer using the R.A.C.E.S. Writing Strategy. Please note that students must have the WonderWorks Interactive Worktext for Grade Six in order to answer the questions in these worksheets.

With this activity, students will drag and drop a comma or a semicolon to fix each run-on sentence. Before assessing student knowledge with this activity, students should know when to use a comma and when to use a semicolon. Students will receive immediate feedback with this activity.

Product Description

“I Spy” proofreading and editing is a fun resource where students will be able to convey their knowledge of editing punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Using a short summary of singers like Shawn Mendes, Arianna Grande, and Katy Perry, students will have practice correcting these interesting passages while learning about their favorite singers.

This free product includes a worksheet for Proofreading Rules, especially pertaining to these lessons. An additional handout will be offered that explains when to use italics, and when to use quotation marks. In reading passages about famous singers, you will see the use of album titles and individual songs used quite often.

This project is designed for students to create their own original artist/band and to market their newly formed artist(s). It is appropriate for middle school students (grad 6-8) and is always a crowd pleaser!

Students submit a band/artist portfolio which includes a profile about their artist/band, a concert poster, album cover art, and a jingle. The jingle can be performed using an instrumental track to a piece that they enjoy. Included are some examples of products that they could write a jingle about. A rubric for assessment purposes is included and you could even extend this project further by creating an art assessment piece for the album cover art and concert poster.

This assignment typically takes approximately 5-10 classes to complete, from introducing it to completing the final jingle performances. It is handy to have students to complete a rough copy of their work before submitting their good copy to ensure their best quality work is submitted.

Cette ressource est l'une de mes activités préférées pour la rentrée. Plusieurs versions de cette activité sont incluses selon l'âge de vos élèves ! Les élèves utiliseront des trombones ou des pinces à linge pour attacher leurs recommandations à leurs couvertures de livres préférées.

Ensuite, ils créeront leur propre liste de souhaits de livres en fonction des recommandations des camarades de classe.

Enfin, les élèves écriront un court texte persuasif expliquant pourquoi ils pensent que leur livre est le MEILLEUR, ce qui vous donnera un petit échantillon d'écriture afin que vous puissiez mieux répondre aux besoins de vos nouveaux élèves.
