Learning about Careers – Landscape Architecture Simulation project gives students an opportunity to experience what Landscape Architects actually do. This is perfect for a technology, business or marketing class, or a class that focuses on careers. Students use Web 2.0 tools such as: (Plan a Garden, Gardena, Small Blue Print Planner (download, online version coming soon), or Sketchup to design an amazing outdoor area for a home. This project was created for a grade 7-8 Career Exploration class, but could easily be adapted for older students.

Materials Required

· Access to computers for each student (or pair of students)

· Internet access

· Access to Sketchup (CAD software – free download) - optional

Project Duration (approximate)

· Introduction to Landscape Architecture Careers (video and PowerPoint Presentation) – .75 to 1 (50 minute) class period(s)

· Creation and landscape design project – 1.5 – 2 (50 minute) class periods

These watercolor art award certificates are just in time to recognize the outstanding students in your classroom.  Multiple styles with beautiful watercolor backgrounds may be used for end of the year awards or recognition any time of year.  

With multiple way to use, they are simple & convenient during this busy time at the end of the school year.  A PDF version and a version in Google Slides are included. Print out and fill in the student name & your name by hand (either PDF or Google slides), fill in editable boxes in PDF, or use Google Slides to add a text box for the student name, teacher name, and purpose of the award (last 4 slides).

This is an editable resource. The editable portions for all certificates are the student's name and teacher's name.  The reason for the award is blank on 4 certificates and may be filled in on the PDF version or added in Google Slides. 

The PDF version includes one version that contains fillable student name and teacher name boxes.  The second PDF version contains fillable student name & teacher name boxes plus a fillable box to describe the award.
