Introduction to Wordle! (3,4 & 5 letter words)

Introduction to Wordle! This is a print and go activity with multiple levels as students develop skills. The playing mats can be reprinted and used again and again as so many different words can be created.

Begin with 3 letter words -

Level 1 - Students can use the alphabet to guess letters in your chosen word. You will mark (red, yellow or green) once students have guessed.

Level 2: Students will use a letter bank (10 letters) to make CVC words. You will again mark the students guesses.

Wordle mats with 4 letter words -

Level 1 - Students can use the alphabet to guess letters in your chosen word. You will mark (red, yellow or green) once students have guessed. (These are great for digraph, or consonant blend practice!)

Level 2: Students will use a letter bank (12 letters) to make 4 letter words. You will again mark the students guesses.

Wordle mats with 5 letter words -

Level 1 - Students can use the alphabet to guess letters in your chosen word. You will mark (red, yellow or green) once students have guessed.

Spring Short Vowels - Mini Set

Spring short vowel mini set - Included is one of each of the activities featuring short a.

Students will write and wipe or use manipulative letters. Students will build letters using flower petals, tap out sounds with Mr. Frog, and slowly talk with Mr. Turtle. Turtle and Frog are ready to be printed and attached to popsicle sticks for hopping / walking along each word. Use them again and again in your small groups or centers.

Turtle Talk

Materials - Picture cards, turtle

Directions - 

We will be talking very slowly like a turtle!  We call this turtle talk.  Look at the picture.  What is it?  Say the word slowly.  Tap out every sound you hear.  Write the letters on the card.  Use your turtle to walk and turtle talk the word you made!   

Flower Building

Use the letters on each flower to build words. Each set has 3 pages to provide appropriate support for your students. You will have one blank page, one with the medial sound written, and one with word families.

Hop along with MR. Frog then find a matching picture

This ocean themed letter and number seek and find activity makes a great hands on literacy or math center for the preschool or kindergarten classroom. Students will have fun tracing letters and finding numbers with these fish themed letter recognition and number recognition matching mats. These mats also work with a pond or pet theme. Each letter and number mat is available in color and in black and white.

What Is Included

Types of Activities

  • Write the Room activity where the teacher hides the cards around the room and students find them to write or trace on their mats.

This letter T flip book is a fun and easy way to practice letter recognition, letter formation, and beginning sounds all in one booklet! This easy to make flip book gives students a variety of ways to practice learning about the letter T.

Pages Available

  • A Cover Page
  • Seek and Find: Distinguish between capital and lowercase letters.
  • Find and Color: Color or dab the letter from among other letters.
  • Cut and Paste: Either use the letters at the bottom of the page, or find letters in magazines or other kinds of print to paste on this page.
  • Trace and Write: Trace and write the capital and lowercase letters.
  • Beginning Sounds: Color the pictures that begin with the letter.
  • Draw and Trace: Trace the words that start with the letter and draw a picture of the word.

The activities in this flip book progress from easy letter recognition to letter formation and then finally to the sound the letter makes. The teacher can differentiate the flipbooks to meet the needs of all students in the classroom. If a student is not ready to work on the letter sound, those pages can be left off to make an easier version of the book.

AGE Words Matching Mats

Building reading comprehension is an important skill for students to learn. This AGE words literacy center contains hands on activities to practice reading single words as well as reading simple sentences.

What is Included:

  • 1 AGE words sentence mat
  • Picture cards for matching with the mat

To complete this activity, students will read the sentences on the mat and then match the pictures to the correct sentence.

Ways to Use:

  • Simply lay the images on top of the sentence.
  • Use hook and loop fasteners to attach the images.
  • Use a baking sheet and magnets to attach the images.

Students will love the hands on nature of this activity. They are able to manipulate the images for a tactile approach to demonstrate their learning.

ACK Word Family Clip Cards

This packet contains clip cards for the ACK word family. These clip cards are a great fine motor literacy center or as a Kindergarten phonics center. There are 3 different card types for each picture with several different representation of the words.

Types of Clip Cards

  • The first set of cards have the picture with the beginning sound or blend for the at word and students must clip the correct word family ending to complete the word. For example, the card will have a picture of a hat with h _ _ under the picture. The choices the student will choose from will be like at, ag or am.
  • The second set of cards have the picture with no word and the student must pick the correct word from a choice of 3 different words with the same beginning sound but with different ending word families. For example, students will see a picture of a hat and must choose the correct answer from these choices: hat, ham or han.
  • The third set of cards have the picture with no word and the student must pick the correct word from a choice of 3 different words with the same beginning and ending sound. Only the vowel is different. For example, students will see a picture of a hat and much choose the correct answer from these choices: hat, hit, or hot.
