These low prep tear off strips bring a fun, active element to practicing letter sound fluency. My small group intervention students beg for this activity!

Display the 8 colorful sheets of tear off strips around the room. Students tear off one strip at a time and practice the row of 10 letter sounds 3 times to increase fluency. Then they can read their strip for the teacher or a classmate before choosing another sheet to tear from.

Illustrations are the basis of students writing at the early stages, and too often we as teachers assume students know how to draw. This was a total game changer in my classroom!
