What are wheel clip cards?

Wheel clip cards just have several correct answers, as compared to the normal clip card, which generally only has one correct answer. Hence, this should be used only when the learner is more familiar with the concept and can use this as further practice.

How do I prepare this resource?

The centers are best used by first printing on cardstock and then laminating.

How it works:

1. Before Starting:

Ensure students have already been taught the corresponding lesson explicitly. Ready Reads should follow the previously taught content in accordance with the Science of Reading principles, which emphasize systematic and cumulative instruction.

2. Using Ready Read Charts:

Whole Class: Display the chart on a projector or screen for the entire class to read together.

Small Group: Using printed copies, assign students a row to read. Students whisper read and follow along while another student reads orally. OR Side by side students work in pairs to read their line to each other while the teacher listens to each student in turn read.

Partner Practice: Students can work in pairs to read and support each other, holding each other accountable.

Individual Reading: Students can whisper read the charts on their own, practicing graphemes, phonemes, or word blending.

3. Adapting Formats:

Use an “I read, We read, You read” model. Begin by modeling the reading, follow with group reading, and finally allow students to read independently. All student eyes should always be on the text.

4. For Pre-Readers and Early Readers:

Guide them through the left-to-right reading progression to help develop fluency with the letters and sounds they’ve already learned. This helps in recognizing graphemes and phonemes quickly, setting the stage for fluent reading.

5. Grapheme and Phoneme Practice:

For Graphemes: Students say the name of each grapheme (e.g., “Digraph ch”).

For Phonemes: Students say the sound each grapheme makes (e.g., /ch/).

For Word Blending: Students blend the sounds to say the entire word.

6. Using the Different Versions:

Letter/Sound Charts: In each corresponding lesson, the first chart is the grapheme/phoneme chart. These charts spiral 8 different grapheme/phonemes from previous lessons, so students will continually practice them to mastery.

Word Charts: There are 4 versions of each word chart through lesson 41 and 3 versions from 42-68 : Word Charts through C each include a different set of six words, while the last chart features a serif font. It’s important to use both, as serif fonts (especially letters like “a” and “g”) can look different to students in books, and they need to recognize these variations instantly.

Blank Chart: Use the blank Ready Read chart to customize content with specific letters or words that meet your students' needs.

Where is the Object? These seasonal sight word game is great for students who are practicing sight word recognition and beginning reading skills. This game can be used in a pocket chart or on a table top for an early education classroom.

Products Included:

• Winter: Where's the Penguin?

What is Included:

• Sight word cards for all 220 sight words.
• Penguin cards for hiding

The cards are available in two formats, 6 to a page and 4 to a page to accommodate different sized pocket charts.

Ways to Use:

• small group game
• whole class game
• circle time game
• student led literacy center
• one on one instruction to target specific sight words for struggling students

How to Play:

Where's the ________? is a game for centers or whole group instruction where an object is hidden behind a sight word card. A poem is chanted where the student(s) must say the sight word they think the object is behind. Once guessed, the sight word is removed. If the object is behind the sight word card, then the object must be hidden again to play further. If the object is not behind the sight word card, then the poem is chanted again with a new sight word.

Practice sight word recognition with these no prep and low prep activities. There are 10 different word work activities that include sight word reading, sight word searches, sight word spelling and word work mats for tracing or using play dough. This product includes all of the activities from the Worksheet and the Centers Bundles.

Products included:

Pre Primer Road Mats : These sight word road mats are perfect for using fine motor skills to learn sight words. Student use small cars to drive along the sight word.

Pre Primer Dab a Sight Word : These dab a sight word sheets contain 5 sight words each. The words are presented in order of frequency. Students simply us dab it markers or color the sight words the appropriate color.

Pre Primer Sight Word Puzzles: All the Pre-Primer sight words have a puzzle except a and I. Each letter of the sight words are on their separate piece and students must spell the sight word to complete the puzzles.

Pre Primer Sight Word Searches : Have students color, trace, write and find the sight word in these word search sheets.

Pre Primer Sight Word Spelling Cards : This is a literacy center activity where students use the letter tiles to spell their sight words. Attach velcro to the fronts of the cards and the back of the tiles for a file folder type game.

Pre Primer Sight Word Pages : Have students trace, color, draw, write and make their sight word with these pages.

Pre Primer Sight Word Mats : Use play dough or other manipulatives to cover the letters on each sight word mat.

Pre Primer Fluency Pages: Students have three different pages to practice fluency. One with a sentence to ready, copy and draw a picture of a reading passage that focus on a single sight word and a reading passage where students will write the specified sight word then read the passage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this printable come in Black and White?

Yes, all the domino centers come in black and white as well. Some of the centers are only available in black and white, you can opt to print these on colored paper to make it extra colorful.

Note: The Colors Dominoes is only available in color.

How do I prepare this resource?

To play, print and laminate the pages from your chosen set. The standard format for each set of dominos is two dominoes per page. This size is perfect if you are wanting your students to play in groups as a floor game. If you would like to make the dominoes smaller, print several pages to a page (I normally print 8 dominoes to a page), and this will be suitable for table use as a small group or partner activity.

How do my students play the domino games?

Students begin with the 'START' domino and then work their way through, matching the dominoes, until they reach the ‘END’ domino. Dominoes can be matched in either direction, vertically or horizontally.
