Ask the children to use this worksheet to to record what they SEE, HEAR, SMELL and FEEL as they walk outside on a nice Autumn day.

Recommended sequence

1. Review the 5 senses.

2. Take a moment to tune in, breathe, and just be.

3. Give instructions for how to quietly be in the outside world, using keen observation and a relaxed mind to fill in this chart.

4. Give plenty of time for students to draw or write their findings.

5. Come together as a group and find out what people observed and any impact it had on them.

Tips for your mindfulness nature walk

1. Walk at a natural, slow pace. Take your time to take in the beauty of nature around you. Look around you. Notice the trees around you. Are they starting to change colors? Are they losing their leaves?
2. Take in deep breaths through your nose. Shift your awareness to your smell. What do you smell? Does it smell earthy? Do you smell the leaves around you?
3. Listen. What do you hear? Are there animals bustling around? Do you hear the leaves crunching underneath your feet?
4. Pick up a few leaves. How do they feel? Are they starting to decompose? Are they crunchy? What color are they?
5. Shift your attention back to walking. Feel the physical sensation of walking. One foot up, one foot down. Notice your feet touching the ground. How do you feel?
6. At the end of your walk, pause and take a moment. Stand still and take in a deep breath. Take a look around and notice your feelings.

School readiness refers to whether a child is ready to make an easy and successful transition into school. The development of school readiness skills allows school teachers to expand and further develop a child’s skills in the specific areas of social interaction, play, language, emotional development, physical skills, literacy and fine motor skills.

Without these basic skills already established upon entry to school, children can very quickly find themselves playing ‘catch up’ compared to their peers that are advancing more quickly. This is a great 12 page handout which explores various building blocks which are important for school readiness. This set contains two full paged outline for each number starting at 0 and going up to 20. Each number is represented in two different fonts. Use these pages for number crafts or number recognition activities.

Your students will love being creative while making crafts with these large numbers. Students can color, decorate or fill the numbers to practice number recognition.

Suggested Activities:

• Color the number
• Look through magazines or other printed material and cut and past examples of the numbers
• Draw objects inside the number to practice counting to that number
• Place stickers inside the number to practice counting to that number
• Use as playdough mats
• Trace the numbers with fingers
• Use as building mats, like placing blocks to create the number shape
• Printable number line to 20

These outlines can be simple print and go activities where craft material is set out and students decorate as they wish, or you can create your own craft for your students to use these outlines with. They can be placed in math centers to practice counting, in a fine motor center to be used with playdough and manipulatives, in a writing center to practice tracing or as a number display for counting, adding or subtracting!

Dab a Sight Word 3rd Grade

Practice sight word recognition with these sight word Dab it sheets. Each page features five sight words that are color coded for easy instructions. Black and white pages are also available for students to choose their own colors to dab the sight words.

There are several ways you can use these sheets.

• Use dab it markers to actually dab the right color on the sight word.
• Use crayons or markers to color the appropriate color.
• Laminate pages and use colored counters to cover the spots with the appropriate color.

BONUS ACTIVITY

This packet also contains a ready made Easel activity for students to complete each page digitally by dragging and dropping the correct colored circle to each sight word.

Get a full set of alphabet outlines and number outlines in this bundle packet. These print and go craft templates make a quick, easy prep activity for a letter or number craft. Each outline has bold lines and cover a full page, making them great for preschool crafts or bulletin board displays.

These large bold letters make the perfect template for letter crafts and number crafts as well as a variety of other activities. Students will love creating their crafts with these templates.

These letters and numbers also make great bulletin board letters and numbers. Just print the letters or numbers on the desired colored paper to create any bulletin board message.

These letter and number outlines have many uses beyond just crafts and bulletin boards. They can be used as playdough mats, sorting mats and as mats to fill with manipulatives.

Suggested Activities:

• Craft templates
• Use as playdough mats.
• Use finger to trace the number or letter.
• Use blocks or other objects to build the number or letter.
• Go through magazines and look for examples to the number or letter to glue to its page.
• Bulletin board displays

Each letter and number outline will print on a full page sized 8.5X11. There are several letters and numbers with more than one representation to account for different letter and number formations. If there is a style of letter or number that you need that is not included, please let me know and I can add it in!

BONUS: This product is TeachShare for Easel Ready. A drag and drop activity has been created for students to drag different colored circles to fill each letter.
