Band and Orchestra Instrument Samples

When it comes time to discuss timbre, instrument families, ranges, and the alike, you need instant samples of instruments. I used to do it the old way -- finding a specific piece of music, cueing it up in the CD player or mp3, and implement it in my lesson. It took a lot of time and extra preparation on my part to find those clips and segment them for my class... Here's the solution -- Band and Orchestra Instrument Samples. Included are 25 REAL sampled instruments, all the way from the Piccolo down to the Marimba. Holiday Toy Trends Mini Research Unit

Every year there's that ONE holiday toy that captures the hearts of kids and sends parents off to the store to grab the last one. This mini unit covers the history of Christmas toys through four decades (some of which you will remember!). The unit is divided into three parts and relies heavily on student research. The parts can be done at your own pace over the course of a week or over several weeks.
Part One
-Includes two reading passages, one about the history of holiday gift giving and one about the rise of the toy industry.
-Research Project: Students are given four worksheets, one for each of the decades (1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s), and they must research toy trends for each decade
Part Two
-All of part two is in the included PowerPoint. This covers holiday advertising, starting with the early days of ads, through the department store catalog, and into modern television commercials.
-There are three links to toy commercials from the 70s, 80s, and 90s to watch with students
Part Three
-In part three, students will conduct an interview with an older friend or family member about their own holiday toy memories
-Final Project: Students pick one of three final projects to complete. Each project relates back to a different part of the unit.
This unit is geared towards a classroom, but is easily adapted to a homeschooler...in fact, I originally created it for mine! Every research activity is done solo and the PowerPoint can easily be used just for one or a handful of kiddos. This is also easily adaptable, in case you want to change anything for your students, but is no-prep, ready to go, as it is!

This is a 10-15 day CROSS CURRICULUM lesson! It includes tasks from Math, LA, Science, Art, Social Studies, and more! There are two different videos that I have included.
The scenario: we have to leave Earth because of pollution. Students are part of the New Beginnings Mission and they must settle a colony on a new planet. Tasks include map making, decimal multiplication, scale drawings, team building, geometric drawings, research, measurement conversions, and more. It is presented in PowerPoint format. The first slide is an overview. All worksheets are included as slides that can be printed. There are also instructions included in the notes section of each slide.

Writing a biography is a fun and interesting project for your students. This provides them with the opportunity to learn about someone that interests them and share it with their peers! This packet includes information to share with your students about what a biography is, why do we write a biography, and rules to follow when writing a biography. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a biography and the steps that are taken to add onto a biography to be sure it includes a beginning, middle and end. On the last few pages, it includes a template to help students come up with possible story ideas, add onto each paragraph they will include in their biography, and a reference sheet. Space to write a rough draft as well as a final draft is included.

This product was made for students to learn the following: that different people come to America, the first Americans - Indigenous Peoples, review of directions when going from one place to another in the world, what the first Americans ate, where they lived, what was used to build houses, how they found food, how they made tools and clothes, the first explorers, who the Vikings were, where the Vikings traveled, what colonies, a colony, and colonists are, how colonists and Indigenous Peoples lived on the same land, slaves, brief discussion of the Civil War, and immigrants coming to America to start a new life.
Adapted notes are provided along with an independent review after each slide. Students will be required to fill in the blanks using a key, answer short answer questions without a key, complete multiple choice questions, and look at a graph and answer short answer questions.
Students can complete the review independently, with support, or it can be used as an assessment as well.

De nos jours, il semble que les élèves connaissent de moins en moins les grands événements et moments historiques, qu'ils soient bons ou mauvais. Ce document est conçu pour permettre aux enseignants de donner à leurs élèves un aperçu de certains événements majeurs de l'Histoire que nous n'avons souvent pas le temps d'explorer en détail en classe, mais qui offrent au moins aux élèves une première introduction à ces moments marquants.
Ce document pédagogique propose une immersion dans 41 moments marquants de l’Histoire mondiale à travers des récits captivants. Chaque semaine, les élèves découvriront un personnage fictif placé au cœur d'un événement historique majeur, avec un focus sur le contexte temporel, géographique, les personnes impactées et les répercussions à long terme de cet événement.
Les élèves seront invités à rédiger des entrées de journal intime en adoptant la perspective de personnages historiques, tels qu'un jeune garçon dans un pensionnat autochtone, une infirmière sur le front de la guerre de Sécession, ou encore un membre d'une communauté des Premières Nations lors des négociations des traités avec le gouvernement canadien.
Objectifs pédagogiques :
- Comprendre les moments historiques clés qui ont façonné le monde et leurs répercussions durables.
- Encourager l’écriture créative et l’exploration des perspectives personnelles et historiques.
- Sensibiliser les élèves à l’empathie à travers des récits ancrés dans des contextes réels.
- Stimuler la réflexion critique en analysant comment les événements ont affecté les différentes communautés.
Contenu :
- 41 semaines de suggestions d'écriture basées sur des moments historiques divers et enrichissants.
- Chaque activité inclut les détails clés : période, lieu, personnes touchées, et conséquences à long terme sur le monde.
- Des descriptions concises pour guider les élèves dans leur écriture.
- Une activité engageante où les élèves imaginent des récits personnels tout en explorant des événements historiques.
