For many children, the first thought that comes to mind when winter approaches is “snow day!” The winter can be a time of hibernation as it is cold outside, many extracurricular activities have slowed down, and the days get darker much earlier. When children are cooped up inside, they can become restless and bored quite easily. However, the winter yoga sequence is a great way to promote physical activity and encourage movement during a restless time.

In our Educator’s edition, we provide 3 easy-to-follow curriculums for teachers, parents, and anyone else that works with children. Each curriculum is for a specific age group: young kids, kids and tweens.

The Winter Sequence + Curriculum is a 24 page PDF download which you can view on your phone, tablet, computer or print out onto paper. We recommend cutting out each card and taping/gluing on a 4x6 index card or card stock. For added durability, laminate each card.

How does it work?

Your students are trapped in your classroom and cannot leave for spring break until they solve 5 Language Arts skills-based tasks about spring!

• Spring to Life: In the first task, students must fill in the blanks with the spring-inspired idioms.
• Figurative as a Flower: In the second task, students identify the figurative language devices used in excerpts from beautiful spring poems (like After the Winter by Claude McKay).
• Edna's Spring: In the third task, students must perform a close reading of Spring by Edna St. Vincent Millay, the perfect poem to study as the days get warmer, and answer multiple choice questions about the poem.
• Spring Fever: In the fourth task, students will read 8 quotes about spring and identify the part of speech of underlined words within each quote.
• Jig Saw Quote: In the final task, students must solve a jig saw puzzle that reveals a provocative quote about spring. Once they figure out the quote and share the file with you, they may escape to spring break!
