Spanish Video Project Tourism Ad for a Spanish-Speaking Country
By Specialty Spanish
This FUN and motivating project will get your Spanish students doing some presentational speaking for a real-world purpose! Students research the tourist attractions of a Spanish-speaking country and create an ad. The purpose of the ad is to attract more tourists, but the purpose of the project is for students to learn about the wonderful places in the Spanish-speaking world and to encourage them to put these places on their "must see" list! All parts of this activity are customizable to make them just right for your students.
In this mini-project, students will choose a Spanish-speaking country. They will research the "Can't Miss" tourist destinations of the country in-depth. Next they will find images of the places and important information about the places and use them to create an advertisement. Student have many options for how they would like to put their TV ad together, including Google Slides, Screencastify and others. The goal is to make an ad that the target audience can't resist! This country is the NEXT place they plan to go on vacation!
One thing I've struggled with in the past is students not using class work time well. To solve this, I created a timeline that explains what should be accomplished during each work period. It has been very successful in terms of students being on task during class work time, and has reduced the amount of "last minute" project completion that often results in low quality work. The timeline is now included with this project!
Depending on your class size and other factors, students can share their work in 3 ways:
-instead of recording their audio into their commercial, they can present live!
-they can record their audio, and the teacher can play each one for the class
-*This is what I usually do! I ask students to set up their computers on their desks, open to their presentation. Students switch seats and watch a number of ads that their classmates created. It ads more student choice and more engagement!

PBL | HERITAGE/PATRIMOINE | DIVERSITY/DIVERSITÉ | CULTURE | FOOD/NOURRITURE |

Engage students in exploring cultural diversity through enlightening interviews and vibrant creative projects focused on food. Foster empathy, curiosity, and global awareness.
This 13-page project-based (PBL) unit features three assignments for students to explore cultural diversity through:

Included with this project is a lesson plan with suggestions, rubric, success criteria, a letter to parents (in both English and French) as well as the interview (in both English and French).
"Mon héritage culinaire": A class recipe book activity featuring your students' traditional recipes used in their families and passed down through generations.
Included with this project is success criteria with explanations.
Includes simple recipe template sheet.
"L'exploration des plats culturels": A project that will have students creating a realistic, informative ethnic cuisine menu.
Included with this project are 6 short stories about kids around the world and their culinary traditions (Japan, China, Africa, India, Mexico and Greece).
Also included are success criteria and explanations as well as a rubric.
I use this product with my 5th graders, but teaching cultural diversity, acceptance and global awareness are universal. This project-based resource would work for students in grades 5 through 9.
For goodness sakes, don't forget to have fun!

CORE FRENCH | FSL | BOÎTE À BENTO | BOX | GAME-BASED LEARNING | JEUX + UNITÉS |
By French Made Fun!
My (very) low-level middle-schoolers love learning about niche objects and concepts in Core French. I use their interests and personalities to create engaging projects that meet the outcomes. I actively use this particular project with grades 4, 5 and 6 but it could easily be used in a grade 7 or even grade 8 classrooms. If you use Pearson's Échos Pros, this works AMAZINGLY alongside "Ah oui, j'aime ça!"
This 30+ page project will prompt your discussions and activities and will provide your students with engaging, highly visual, clear and simple instructions and examples. My products are not babyish -- this is the main reason I started creating products.
You will find:
My products consistently grow. Anytime I create a new activity, I modify this document so that it is always up-to-date and complete.
Enjoy!

Great Inventions - The Invention of Language | Distance Learning
By Innovations in Technology
In this lesson, students learn interesting facts about the invention of language as they complete several projects including a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. A complete answer key is provided for the WebQuest for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students.
