30 Days of STEM | STEAM Silly Building Challenges SET 1
By Teaching Dinos
Kids will LOVE this pack of 30 Days of Silly STEM Building Challenge Task Cards based on silly stories! There is a printable PDF, as well as Google Slides perfect for distance learning and back to school. Pair these problem solving cards with the STEAM / STEM activities and use them in a variety of ways. Use them in Makerspaces, morning tubs or centers, as an activity for early finishers, or rewards for a great day!
**Perfect for classrooms, distance learning, homeschool, and even parents just looking for a fun, adventure filled activity for their children.**
⭐ This is Set #1. You can purchase the Bundle of 90 days, all 3 available sets, for 20% off here: BUNDLE of 90 Days STEAM | STEM Silly Challenge Task Cards Distance Learning
Distance Learning Compatible: This product can be downloaded as a printable PDF or copied into Google Slides. This will allow you to send the product to your students as an editable document. Download as a PowerPoint to upload to Microsoft Teams.
What’s included in the 21 page PDF download, as well as the 38 Google Slides:
Google Slides
************************************************************
How can you use these task cards?
Have the task cards available in makerspaces, centers, tubs, busy boxes, morning baskets, or available for early finishers to complete using ANY available materials. Students can even draw their creations instead of building them!
Use one card a day during morning time. Have students fill out a STEAM / STEM worksheet or discuss and use the Google Slides as a class.
Use them for public speaking practice. Allow students to build and then show and tell with the class or their parents. They can discuss what they made, liked, what they would improve, and how it solved the problem on the task cards. They can practice speaking and listening skills, using loud and clear voices, and giving full attention to the speaker. Encourage students to ask questions to their classmates.
Ideally the goal is to do one challenge a day, but you could certainly allow students to do more than one.
**********************************************************
Why do I think you will love this product, and what makes my challenge set unique?
I love silly stories that bring humor and adventure to life for kids, but also that force them to use their imaginations in fun and exciting ways. This challenge task set does exactly that through the loose wacky stories where they are the main character. Silly scenarios, adventure and disaster, problem solving, and learning, are all part of the experience when building these challenges.
Most building challenge task cards are independent from each other. “Build a boat,” or “build an airplane,” are common themes among the cards. While those are fantastic, and we have done many of them ourselves, I wanted to do something different and more cohesive and engaging for kids.
The only rule is to HAVE FUN and allow those imaginations to soar!
**Please note that while the intent is for these to be independent, early readers may need some assistance in reading the cards.**
**This is not an editable document.**

Back to School Scavenger Hunt | First Day of School Game | School Classroom Tour
By TaughtOught Homeschooling
This printable back-to-school Scavenger Hunt for kids is a winning combination of treasure hunt clues and riddles! This printable kids' game includes 10 riddles and hiding spots for kids to venture around the classroom looking for clues. Each riddle reveals a new hiding spot and code word. Get your students acquainted with the classroom at the start of the school year!
Gameplay: 20-30 minutes Ages: 7-10
This fun and engaging classroom mystery quest will be a huge hit for kids ages 7 - 10. Whether you're looking for a fun way to acquaint your new students with the classroom, greet your new students in a fun, friendly way (so they are excited to come back!), or a way to give a reward, this activity is perfect for you.
HOW IT WORKS: A “secret mission” is read, and Clue # 1 is handed to the “treasure seeker, " leading to Clue 2 in a different location. All you have to do is print the clues, cut them in half, and hide them in the classroom exactly as directed! All hiding spots are common classroom locations. The list of hiding spots can be found inside your download and in the listing below. The final prize is up to you! Maybe it’s a small candy or toy reward, or a title in the classroom (such as "the winner gets to be teacher's helper for the week"). The possibilities for what you choose to hide in the final location are endless.
INCLUDED IN THE INSTANT DOWNLOAD
PERFECT FOR:
☑️ Classroom party games
☑️ Rainy day activities
☑️ Classroom tours
☑️ Introduction to the school year
☑️ Collaborative games
☑️ Getting to know fellow students
☑️ Behavior rewards
☑️ Report card reward
How long does this activity take to complete?
It really depends on a lot of things. Estimated completion time is 20 minutes but it’s based on the kids’ riddle skills, group size, and age. It is also HIGHLY based on how difficult it is to find the clue cards. We always suggest folding the riddles and hiding them really well, out of plain sight!
How many kids can play at once?
Kids can play individually, with friends, or with their siblings. For a larger group, you’ll likely want to print and hide multiple copies of each clue.
How do I set up the Scavenger Hunt?
To set up the Scavenger Hunt, you will need to cut the clue cards in half and hide them in the appropriate location. The PDF includes the correct hiding spots for each clue. All hiding spots are common household places such as under the bed, bathroom sink or in a closet. The harder the clues are to find, the more fun the kids have! If clues are hidden in plain sight, the hunt would be completed too quickly.
Where do kids begin?
You may begin in any location of the classroom. Together, the “mission” is read out loud to get your kids hooked. Kids are then handed the first clue card. Each clue card contains a riddle that will lead them to the location of the next clue.
How do I set up the activity?
Just print, cut, hide and play! Everything you need is included in your download.
Do I have to print out the game materials for every kid?
Nope! You ONLY have to print out the answer sheet for each kid or group. Just one set of the actual clue cards is all you need!
