Colorful Semantics Sentence Writing Support
By SEN Resource Source
Colorful Semantics is a structured language intervention designed to support the development of language and communication skills, particularly in children with speech and language difficulties. This resource includes sentence making boards for children to plan and write sentences using the cards. It also includes all 4 sets of color coded cards for who, what doing, what and where. There are 354 cards in total.
Why do you need this?
Colorful Semantics uses color coded cards to help children to learn the important elements of a sentence and how to join them together in the correct order. By visually representing each part of the sentence with a specific color, learners can better understand the structure and meaning of sentences, as well as the relationships between words.
How and when might you use this?
This approach is often implemented through a variety of interactive and hands-on activities, such as sentence building games, storytelling, and picture-based exercises. It can be tailored to the individual needs and abilities of learners, making it suitable for use in both classroom settings and speech and language clinics.
What’s included?
· 354 Cards for 'Who', 'What', 'Where' and 'What doing'
· 4 different versions of sentence support cards with lines to write sentences
· 4 different versions of sentence support cards with handwriting lines

Christmas Activity: Build a Christmas House and Writing Activity
By A Teachers Sidekick
This is a Christmas/Holiday Activity designed for Elementary Students. Students will be creating their own Christmas House! Students will cut out the shapes, color, and glue together their house however they like. It includes a house, roof, chimney, tree, ornaments, and more! There is also an added writing activity, where students can describe their house! This would be a great product to do in the weeks leading up to Christmas. It would look great hanging up or outside the classroom, and if you include the writing activity, then some good practice with descriptive writing!
What’s Included and What's Needed??
An outline of the house, roof, chimney, tree, ornaments, gifts, and other decorations are included. Your students will need scissors and glue. I would recommend also having them clue everything onto a piece of construction paper.
Writing Activity
The writing activity can be used as a way to integrate this with ELA. There are 2 different writing activity papers. One is for younger students (k-2) with larger lines, and students can describe their house with basic adjectives like the color and shape. The other is for older students (3-5) with less space between the lines, and students can describe their house, going into more detail with their description and even describing why they chose to design it the way they did!
I hope you enjoy it! Please rate and review.

Sentence diagramming is so helpful when teaching students parts of speech and sentence structure. The repetitiveness of diagramming for a bell ringer is extremely beneficial for students. I tried grammar workbooks for years, but my students hardly retained anything. Daily sentence diagramming made them remember their parts of speech, and was an amazing foundation for my students to have when we started forming different types of sentences. They picked up on fixing run-ons quickly as well because of their diagramming foundation.

Christmas Collaborative Writing Activity
By Language Arts Excellence
Celebrate the Christmas season with this engaging communal story-telling activity!
"Christmas Collaborative Story Time" is a communal story-telling activity in which students practice using Freytag's Pyramid plot structure in their own narrative writing. In this activity, each student begins a story inspired by a unique Christmas picture or photograph. They are prompted to write the exposition of the tale by introducing the setting and main characters. After the allotted amount of time, the story is then passed to another student who is prompted to write the inciting incident or conflict and begin to detail the rising action. The paper is passed from student to student twice more until the story is resolved. When the stories are finished, the worksheet is returned to the original student who can then make edits and is responsible for producing a final draft.
With this intrinsically engaging activity, each student has the chance to tap into their creativity while applying knowledge of the 7 steps of Freytag's Pyramid. It is a great activity to introduce or reinforce the plot diagram and is perfect for getting students in the Christmas spirit. Since it runs itself, the lesson is also great for substitute plans or on those days when you need a quick plan to get you through the day. I trust you will find that your students will ask for this activity again and again!
