Where is the Object? These seasonal sight word game is great for students who are practicing sight word recognition and beginning reading skills. This game can be used in a pocket chart or on a table top for an early education classroom.

Three Novel Studies for THE SIGN OF THE BEAVER by Elizabeth Speare, THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN by Katherine Applegate and TALES OF A FOURTH GRADE NOTHING by Judy Blume.

These are engaging and comprehensive units that allow your students to respond to the story by using a wide range of reading comprehension strategies and skills.

With comprehension questions and activities for each chapter the units can be followed chapter by chapter, with no extra preparation or planning required by the teacher. The responses in the unit have been planned and arranged so that your students will practise a wide range of comprehension strategies in context. They have been designed to promote thinking and understanding. Tasks can be completed independently, collaboratively or alongside a teacher. All activities have been designed with student engagement at the forefront. In responding to the book, students will be required to think both within and beyond the text. Children learn best when they are having fun! Even better that they are learning the love of books at the same time!

Practice reading and writing CVC and CCVC words with these phonics dice games. Students will roll the dice then color, trace or write the target word. These games are differentiated for students who need more support can be successful as well. These games make great literacy centers or phonics stations.

Skills Assessed

• Blending Onset and Rime
• Reading CVC Words
• Writing CVC Words
• Spelling CVC Words

Ways to Use:

• Use the tracing pages to trace the word rolled (single player)
• Use the grid pages to color the word rolled (single player)
• Create a graph by rolling the dice X number of times and then filling in the blank grid squares. (single player)
• Three in a Row: Using the grid paper with words, students take turns rolling the dice and coloring the words in the grid. The first player with 3 words in a row wins. (partner game)
