In this hands on, multisensory activity, students won’t even realize they are learning! In this resource, they will learn letter formation by first building the letter with counting snap cubes, coloring the letter, tracing the letter, and finally, writing the letter.

Building letters with blocks is not only a fun and engaging way to learn letter formation, but students are working on foundational fine motor skills needed for writing. Students don’t have to use a pencil for writing, try broken crayons (broken crayons help promote tripod grasp pattern), q-tip painting, or fingerpaint. When writing letters for this activity, students use handwriting letter boxes to help with letter size, placement, and spacing. In this product, students will learn about the process of receiving cochlear implants. They can add a picture of themselves to the first page of the booklet. Students will learn or review what steps are needed to receive cochlear implants - a hearing test, going for a scan to determine if cochlear implants would benefit a Deaf individual, going to the hospital to have cochlear implant surgery, a doctor called an otolaryngologist performs cochlear implant surgery, and what happens after surgery, when cochlear implants are turned on and mapped.

Students will review how they can care for their cochlear implants upon receiving them - charging them, putting them in their case when they are not being used, and where they should not go.

Students will be able to draw a picture of themselves wearing their cochlear implant(s). Students can then circle the color of their cochlear implants on the sheets provided. If the color of their cochlear implant is not included in the product, students can color the cochlear implants(s) pictures to show what they look like. At the end of this section, students will complete a fill in the blanks and true/false vocabulary review based on what was covered in the product.

Students will then learn about facts about hearing loss and Deafness - Examples: some people wear one hearing aid, one cochlear implant, two cochlear implants, etc., some people who are Deaf and have cochlear implants may use American Sign Language to communicate, the parts of the ear are reviewed - outer ear, ear canal, eardrum, cochlea, and auditory nerve, and how they work together to help someone hear. Students will label the parts of an ear diagram that is included in this product, identify the differences between hearing aids and cochlear implants, learn the different parts of the internal and external components of cochlear implants and where they are located using a diagram. Students will have the opportunity to again complete a fill in the blanks using a key to review what was learned about hearing aids and cochlear implants, and label a cochlear implant using a key. Students will review how the parts of the cochlear implant work together that allows them to hear. Sound fields and FM systems are also reviewed in this product.

At the end of the product, there are three slides that include the sign language and pictures to help students understand the process that takes place to when having cochlear implant surgery and once surgery has been completed.

This product specifically aligns with Engage NY 4th grade module 5 and Eureka Math's fraction modules. This resource includes student friendly anchor charts that can be used as classroom posters, printed and kept in student math folders/binders as a reference tool, kept in student's daily math toolkit binders, or sent home to help parents be knowledgeable of classroom topics to better support their children be successful with the academics. This resource includes products for fractions overview/fraction strips, adding fractions, subtracting fractions, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions with the butterfly method and converting mixed numbers to improper fractions using both the reverse C method as well as number bonds. Each of the topics includes student practice pages that can be used with any worksheet, digital product, textbook materials, etc. These student practice page come in three versions. One version which offers the most support to students includes an example, step by step directions on how to appropriately do that skill at the top of the page and a template that students use to guide their work to help them be as independent as possible. The second version only includes the template to guide them but not the step by step directions. The third version offers only the example with the step by step directions but no template; students write out and complete each equation on their own.

This resource would be great to have on hand to use for students the first day a topic is introduced as they initially learn and practice the process. It would also be helpful to have for struggling learners to use as a guide to allow them more independence but structured practice. Special education classrooms, ICT and even general education classrooms could all benefit from having these on hand.

This daily communication log is vital to any special education teacher. This easy to fill out communication log creates a collaborative relationship between staff and families while building trust and strong relationships.

The Differentiated 2nd Grade IMSE OG (Orton Gillingham) Companion for CONCEPT #58 is an essential resource designed to enhance the learning experience for young students, particularly in the domains of reading and spelling. I use this with my special education students as a replacement to the IMSE OG printables for red words, word dictation and sentence dictation so that my students are able to participate in their grade level content even if it is not at their work level.

How to Use Red Words: On the first page, students match letters of the red word first using magnetic letters, then using letter coins, and finally using scrabble letters. On the second page, students place the bumpy screen behind the paper. Then they trace the red word and write the red word in the letter boxes. On the third page, students use letter stamps and a red stamp pad to stamp the word as many times on the line as they can fit.

How to Use Word Dictation: First, students will match the dictated word letters using scrabble letters. Then, they will write or trace the word on the line below the scrabble letters. They will complete each word at the same pace as the classroom.

How to Use Sentence: First, teacher or student cut out each word box (teacher picks level colored or black depending on student needs). If using the colored word boxes, the student matches the word box color to the empty boxes
to complete the dictated sentence. If the student is using the black word boxes, they will listen to the dictated sentence and order the word boxes to complete the dictated sentence. After gluing the word boxes in correct sentence order, the student will re-write or trace the sentence on the lines below.
