The stories address a variety of situations, including cultural information.
A brief summary of each story:
Joe & the Talking Sandwich: Joe is a student who brings his lunch to school. Usually this isn’t a problem. But today - his sandwich is talking to him! It gets him in trouble with his teachers and the bus driver. But worst of all, it begs Joe not to eat him at lunch time.
Frankie the Vampire: Frankie is a vampire - a very bad vampire. He is afraid of the dark! This makes it very difficult for him to do the most basic vampire things, especially finding dinner. He needs help, and he finds it from a local psychic.
La Bise: Bryan is an American who is visiting France. He doesn't want to be rude, so he's prepared himself for the French custom of La Bise. But unfortunately, he didn't listen to the entire explanation in French class! Bryan's trip starts out fine but his cultural misunderstandings get him into more and more trouble.
La Baguette Magique: Each day, the local baker sells one special bread - the "baguette magique." And each day, the recipient sees something special happen in his or her life. Joseph wants to learn the secret of the bread, but the baker tells him it will take time.
La Belle Soeur: Lucie and Annie are sisters. Annie is very jealous - she will get her revenge on her popular sister in a devious plan that involves mud, bacon and blue dye.
Canadaman: Josh is a typical boy, until he goes on a camping trip and everything changes. He starts being polite, he develops weird food preferences, and suddenly develops mad hockey skills. What is happening to him, and how will he use these new powers for good instead of evil?
Having short stories available can also save time in the event of emergency absences where you need to provide substitute material. These well-crafted stories are perfect for emergency sub plans that do not require advanced preparation or elaborate instructions. French Daily Journal and Activities - Bell Ringers - Journal Quotidien du Matin
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Daily French journals are a wonderful way to start class. You can set this journal up as a bell ringer activity or an early finisher journal. Your students will actively engage in practicing their French in a personalized and meaningful way. You will love this no prep printable daily French journal which includes activities for planning and gratitude. All you have to do is print and go! This French daily work journal provides 200 pages of activities, and it is written completely in French. Take a look at the preview to see all of the details and examples.
Front page activities include the following tasks:
Back page is for writing:
200 pages are included. I like to print double sided which gives me 100 days of journaling. If you choose to have your students use these on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, you can use this as a full year program.
This resource saves you valuable time by not having to write journal questions yourself. The sequence of tasks is designed to be repetitive so that the tasks remain familiar and achievable, yet the content changes every day to keep it fresh!
The second half of the pages is more challenging than the first as it includes reflexive verbs (even some idiomatic ones), and the vocabulary is at a higher level.
Watch the video I made so that you can see all of the rich material inside and I can show and tell you how I like to use this journal. You'll see that I printed mine double sided on pretty parchment paper and turned it into a booklet that really feels like a journal, but plain white paper and folders to store them in work just as well.
Expect your students to:
You will appreciate:
What teachers like you say about this daily French journal:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Marvelous! My intermediate low-mid students love this! They enjoy doing this at the start of class and at home on days they don't have class. They are intrigued by the quotes and expressions. They love the changing information and the tracking of their self-care...in French! They do not receive a "grade" for this - by their own choice. They find it relevant and fun! We sometimes use it as a jumping off point for some discussion and for some grammar points. Mostly, though, the students just enjoy keeping track of their daily feelings, self-care, etc. in French!!" - Anne S.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "My French 3 students were so excited when I showed this to them and have eagerly begun this journaling process. We are beginning our class every other day with this activity. I love all the details that you included!" - Rebecca D.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I've done something similar to this in the past but mine was nowhere near as thorough or well-done. This will be a nice addition to my beginning of class routines." - Shanda H.
PRINTING:
8.5 x 11 letter paper works well for printing this document. All of the pages are black and white and do not require too much ink. I recommend printing the pages double sided. You can bind the pages together with staples, a binder clip, by punching holes in the pages and inserting into a folder, or you can have the pages bound together at a business supply store.

French Pronouns Skill Drill - Listening Comprehension and Speaking Practice
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Looking for a new way to drill French pronouns? This resource includes 50 sentences to improve listening and speaking skills when using direct and indirect object pronouns and the adverbial pronouns Y and EN. Check out the preview to take a closer look.
Some negation and double pronouns are used, and this activity includes the following tenses:
This is a 24 minute MP3 audio recording of 50 sentences to be restated or written by your students using a pronoun or double pronouns. Each sentence is read twice before time is given for student responses, then the answer is given. You will appreciate the differences in the voices used in this recording. There are three different voices, all native speakers.
I've included five different ways that you can use this pronoun audio drill (see below). Suitable for core, immersion and homeschool curriculums. This drill is fantastic practice for the AP exam.
This resource is included in my advanced French growing bundle.
What's included?
1. Language lab or classroom listening and speaking exercise
Students listen to the drill either as a class or with individual headphones on. They will hear a sentence read twice by two different speakers. The number of pronouns to be used in each sentence is indicated in the recording. After the second reading of the sentence students are given time to say their answer before the correct response is pronounced. The sentences are purposefully not numbered in the recording so that you can choose to do them either in or out of order. This is a listening and speaking grammar drill and writing the answers is not necessarily encouraged.
2. Language lab or classroom silent written exercise
Provide each student with a numbered answer recording sheet. Students should be reminded to pay close attention as the sentences in the recording are NOT numbered. The sentences that are read in the recording are written on the student response sheet and words to be replaced by pronouns are underlined. Since this is a fast moving exercise you may want to give students a chance to revise their answers once the recording has stopped.
3. Whiteboard classroom activity - Individual or paired work
Have students write sentences using pronouns on whiteboards after they’ve heard the sentence spoken twice. Pause the recording and give students time to write their answers. When they’ve finished have them listen carefully and check their work when you stop pause and play the answer. This works particularly well with pairs of students because they can help each other and the work won’t seem so tedious. I often allow my pairs of students to keep track of one point per correct answer and at the end of the activity see which group has the most points.
4. Bell ringer activity
You have and extra five or ten minutes at the beginning or end of class, why not play a few minutes of the pronoun drill? With 50 sentences to choose from you could keep it quite varied.
5. Group writing game
Chances are you have your students’ desks in some kind of rows or groups. Here’s a fun way to change up the pronoun drill a bit. Let’s say you have rows or groups of five students. Before starting the drill recording give the first person in each group a blank sheet of paper and he should have something to write with.
Number the paper 1 - 5 (or the number of students in the group) and as you play the drill the first student has to write his answer next to #1. He has to write something even if he doesn’t know exactly how to spell it. Immediately after the answer is pronounced on the recording he must pass the paper to the next person in his group. It’s important not to hesitate because the recording will continue.
Person #2 records his answer and so on until each person in the group has had a go. At this point, stop the recording and the last person in each group brings the paper back up to the first person who can look over all of the answers written by his group members. He can make any changes he wants to make to anyone’s answer BUT STUDENTS CANNOT SPEAK A WORD TO EACH OTHER.
He then passes the paper back down the row and everyone gets a chance to change either his own or another group member’s answer. They should move fast though because here’s the catch, the first group to turn in a 100% accurate paper to the teacher wins that round!

French Spiral Review Activity - Regular French Verbs in 3 tenses
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
This French spiral review activity is different to many French TPRS circling activities because it doesn't tell a story. Instead, this activity focuses on six regular French verbs, possessive adjectives, and other less frequently words that students will acquire through meaningful repetition.
Each sentence is spoken in the present, passé composé, and futur proche tenses both with and without negation. Read on to see how you can easily differentiate this activity by using video, audio, and practice cards. Have a look at the video preview to see this activity in action!
Research reveals that language learners need MANY repetitions of grammatical structures in order to truly acquire them. By using the circling method, familiarity with the word or phrase is done through repetitive questions circling around the target language.
Here's how it works:
Included:
Step 1: Watch the video lesson / activity to learn about the circling method. Students will quickly catch on, and will truly need to concentrate so that they can make the necessary changes in their sentences. Do your students ever tell you that they can understand what's being said, but can't think fast enough to make the necessary changes when responding? That's exactly why you should have them try out circling!
Step 2: Once they've watched the video and have done the exercise while reading along, try out the audio only version! This will be a challenge as they will not be able to see the words, and it will help with listening and speaking skills.
Step 3: Use the set of cards to practice reading and writing. Read the cards that I have spoken in steps 1 and 2, and have students take the time to write their responses before looking at the answer cards. As the cards are not numbered, I encourage you to download them and use them online rather than printing.

Merci! ❤️☜ ☞This resource is included in my advanced French growing bundle☜ As you teach French, do you find that over the years you hear students making the same kinds of grammar mistakes over and over again? English speaking students in particular often make the same kinds of mistakes. Here are just a few examples of common mistakes I've heard time and again over the last 20 years teaching French: ⭐ Je voudrais un verre de l'eau avec glaçons. ⭐ On aime des pommes et des bananes. ⭐ J'arrive chez toi autour de 17h00. ⭐ Nous sommes sur l'avion déjà. ⭐ Tu attends pour le bus? ⭐ Je pense de ton problème. ⭐ Nous nous lavons nos mains. ⭐ Je la donne un cadeau. You've probably seen the same kinds of mistakes with your students. Very often, mistakes that are made go back to basic French that wasn't mastered when it was introduced for the first time. This activity offers an excellent opportunity to revisit lots of basic grammar that otherwise often gets ignored as we progress through the chapters and more advanced grammar. I like to use this kind of activity at back to school for returning students or at the end of a quarter or semester as a solid review. French Spiral Review Activity - French Pronouns and Verbs in 3 Tenses
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
This particular activity is different to many French TPRS circling activities because it doesn't tell a story. Instead, this activity focuses on French verbs, the pronouns LE - LA - LES - LUI - LEUR - Y - EN, possessive adjectives, and other less frequently used words that students will acquire through meaningful repetition. Each series of sentences is spoken in the present, passé composé, and futur proche tenses, and different forms of negation are included.
