How and when might you use this?

Teachers can use sticker charts consistently throughout the school year to promote positive behavior and academic achievement. They can display the charts in the classroom where students can see them easily and track their progress. Teachers may also choose to celebrate students' accomplishments periodically by recognizing those who have made significant progress on their charts.

Edit these beautiful word wall posters in Google Slides!

CHAMPS — EDITABLE VERSION

This allows you as the teacher to enter the expectation next to each circle under each letter. There are 2 documents, so a zip file will be needed to open this file.

Must have Adobe to be able to edit.

• 1st File- Large Letters that can be printed on colored paper
• 2nd File- Editable posters that provide fillable text boxes so you can determine the action and expectation. The font used is KAButterflies. You will need access to this font or choose a font that has a close match.

You may use clothes pins or magnets and a magnetic board to display CHAMPS. These are black and white so you can print on colored paper of your choice to match your classroom theme.

The acronym CHAMPS describes:

C—Conversation (Voice Level)

H—Help (What to do if you need help)

A—Activity (What tasks the students should be doing)

M—Movement (What is the level of movement required)

P—Participation (How can teachers tell if they are participating in the activity), and

S—Success (If teachers can tell that students are meeting these expectations, they achieve success).  

Teachers review the CHAMPS expectations for each activity throughout the school day to ensure that students are clear on what the teacher expects of them.

Integral parts of both science and STEM are communication and collaboration.  To this end, students should be talking during these classes!  That is how learning takes place!

Students need to know that talking is encouraged.  However, they need to know what the voice level expectations are.  I created this voice level chart specifically with a lab in mind. The smaller chart is for putting on tables, so when students need a reminder, you simply need to point to the correct voice level.
