The Benefits of Reading for English Language Learning

In a world of screens, monitors, laptops, tablets, smartwatches and everything in between, reading is the most essential skill. From emails to text messages, and from social media to internet browsing, reading is the skill most used to communicate and understand the world around us. It is therefore imperative for English students to be able to understand reading texts of all kinds, as well as interact with them.

The 120 reading activities included in this book aim to help students of all CEFR levels perfect their reading skills.

Teacher profiles

Ideal for novice teachers who may not have much access to reading resources, but also for experienced teachers who want to up their game with modern resources.

These are perfect for retelling activities such as readers theater. We used this during Knowledge 3 to get students moving. We use these in whole group, small groups, or even to put on a production for families/other classes. They are created to fit in lanyards, but I have also taped them to students shirts for our readers theater. These are a perfect way for students to demonstrate their knowledge of story elements, especially with the longer stories. My students love acting out our stories!
