What should you do?

As the teacher:

3. Sorting Showdown! Divide students into groups (optional) or have them work individually. Distribute the statement cards and title cards. Students will analyze each statement and categorize it under the appropriate title (Observation, Prediction, or Inference).
4. Checking the Evidence: Review the answers together as a class, discussing why each statement belongs in its designated category.

I wish there were interactive programs like this when I had to learn about cells! This unit aligns with the Ontario Grade 8 Science curriculum. One way to use this package is have students use the app to explore the parts of an animal and a plant cell. After searching online for basic cell diagrams, I did not find any that looked similar to the app so I decided to draw a plant and animal cell in 3D to match the iCell app. The drawings match up to the cells used in the app. Students can look at the basic, intermediate, or advanced descriptions from the app and colour the cell using specific colours as identified in the handout. An additional set of questions is included to ensure students explore through each of the descriptions of the plant and animal cell.
