Students LOVE this lab! It gets them up, interactive and thinking! This is the popular stair lab with a CER built into it. It is set up for partners to both do the activity with the analysis on just one of the students data. It is a great way to incorporate the lab with practicing the CER skills!

This resource is an introduction to natural disasters. It contains five informational reading passages. It was made for the NGSS 3-ESS3-1 and 4-ESS3-2 Earth and Human Activity Standards.

It covers the following natural disasters:

Earthquakes

Floods

Hurricanes

Tornadoes

Volcanoes

The passages were written with third graders in mind, but the information is very interesting and complex and would be useful for upper grades as well.

There is a tips sheet for teachers and two recording sheets for students. One recording sheet is a graphic organizer for students to fill in as they read. The other one asks them to draw and label the natural disaster they have studied.

These are great to use whole group, in small groups, with partners, and even at centers!
