So many of the best museums may not be in your backyard, but it doesn’t mean you can’t learn more about them! This resource is a fun way to strengthen research skills, explore a variety of science museums and get kids considering where and how the public interacts with science. Perfect for early finishers or extension.

Students are tasked with:

• Researching science museums
• Finding out which exhibits are on permanent display
• What information can be found in the exhibits
• Identifying why learners their age would want to visit the museum

Sometimes students don’t know where to start! To help them get started with their museum research, included is a Google Slides presentation that:

Students LOVE this lab! It gets them up, interactive and thinking! This is the popular stair lab with a CER built into it. It is set up for partners to both do the activity with the analysis on just one of the students data. It is a great way to incorporate the lab with practicing the CER skills!

This resource is an introduction to natural disasters. It contains five informational reading passages. It was made for the NGSS 3-ESS3-1 and 4-ESS3-2 Earth and Human Activity Standards.

It covers the following natural disasters:

Volcanoes

The passages were written with third graders in mind, but the information is very interesting and complex and would be useful for upper grades as well.

There is a tips sheet for teachers and two recording sheets for students. One recording sheet is a graphic organizer for students to fill in as they read. The other one asks them to draw and label the natural disaster they have studied.

These are great to use whole group, in small groups, with partners, and even at centers!

This is a basic science journal for kids in primary grades. There are journal entry sheets (one for kindergarten and one for first and second-grade use). I included our scientific method recording sheets as well. These sheets can be used as a stand-alone for use with science lessons, or they can be assembled into a journal if you prefer by making multiple copies and stapling them together.
