Less than $5 Women's History Month Research (by date, oldest first)

In this lesson, students learn interesting facts about women who were involved with STEM careers and their contributions as they complete a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to answer questions about the topic. A complete answer key is provided for the WebQuest for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students. The student questions are included in both a print version and a digital (editable) version to make it easy for students to complete the lesson digitally or on paper. Also included with this lesson is a word search puzzle that includes an answer key, perfect for early finishers or as a part of the lesson.

This lesson is intended to be an introduction to the topic and was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary or high school as well. This is also a great lesson to leave for a substitute teacher!

This webquest / Internet scavenger hunt is a perfect one day activity for middle schoolers to learn more about famous women in history and their contributions. It was designed to be used during Women's History Month (March) but is a great lesson for any time. Perfect for Social Studies/History, Career and Technology classes, Science or Math.

The lesson includes teacher and student resources (including suggested sites for student research), along with the student handout and an answer key. Both a digital and print version of the file is included, and both are editable. In this lesson, students choose a woman they feel contributed something important to society and then create a presentation about her and the contribution. A variety of choices are offered for the student to choose from, and also to allow teachers to use this lesson with the software they have available. Included with the lesson are resources for the teacher to introduce the lesson (including video options), resources for student research, as well as links to tutorials for different software choices if they are choosing to challenge themselves with something new. The finished products may be shared with the class as a presentation, or can be displayed on student workstations for other students to do a learning walk and view. This lesson was created for 8th grade students but is appropriate for students in grades 6-9.

This is a biography writing unit about the life of famous Pakistani educational activist, Malala Yousafzai. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in 5th grade or 6th grade learning about World History, or for Women's History Month.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and incude these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided.

This is a biography writing unit about one of the most famous victims of the Holocaust and young diarist during World War II, Anne Frank. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in 5th grade or 6th grade learning about World History, World War 2, or for Women's History Month.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and incude these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided.

A great digital research and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to Anne Frank and some of the key events of World War 2. Great for class work, distance learning or home schooling. There are 43 posters or task cards that include many of the key events from her life, from her birth, her time in the annex, to her time spent in the concentration camps and her eventual death alongside her sister.

The research and sorting activity is differentiated into two levels: with dates and without dates. Lower level students can sort the events using the dates, whilst higher level students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline.
