Do your students need a Question of The Day for February? Using a Question of The Day can lead to tremendous growth academically and socially. The Question of The Day Fun can be utilized during your Morning Meeting time along with your greeting and other activities. 

There are Valentine’s Day questions, Black History Month questions, and kindness questions. All of the questions are on a Google Slide and can be used every morning during your Morning Meeting routine. All you have to do is bring up the Google Slide each morning and have the slide ready to go for that day. There are 20 EDITABLE and DIVERSE slides just for the month of February! 

Students will create connections and develop deep discussions with the questions.  Therefore, the skills they are learning during Morning Meeting will lead to connections within their reading texts. Students who practice those skills outside of reading will most likely utilize those same skills while reading. 

Additionally, the February Question of The Day will create deep relationships between you and your students! If you have the other Morning Meeting Slides than you understand how powerful these questions can be!

Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Jacob Lawrence Storefront Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. It is best to use 18 x 24 white paper for this unit, since this will be a rather large artwork. This unit should last 4-(50 minute) class periods. I allowed the use of crayon for larger areas on the paper (like the sky, road, sidewalk, and buildings). Why is Martin Luther King's birthday celebrated as a national holiday, and who was he? Learn how Martin Luther King Jr. transformed American culture forever by watching this incredibly educational Kids Academy film about this remarkable guy. You will learn about his battle against segregation, a legislation in the United States that prohibited individuals with different skin tones from traveling, studying, or dining together. Some individuals felt it was normal to treat Black people badly, despite the fact that slavery had been abolished over a century earlier. In order to combat this inequality, Martin Luther King began using both words and nonviolent means, and he was successful!

This lesson plan is based on the YouTube video about Martin Luther King Jr.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwZxJEUOvS0. There are various activities for your students to do before, while, and after watching the video. The lesson last 90 minutes and it is designed mostly for Elementary school students. The answer key is included at the end.

Get your students excited about coordinates during Black History Month & martin luther king jr Day! These worksheets aim to plot a number of coordinates to find an inspiring message to celebrate some of the most influential African American leaders.

This can help motivate your students to try their best to get the message right by plotting the ordered pairs correctly and accurately.

This resource can be used as an activity, math centers, fast finishers, homework, substitute, "filler days", or end-of-the-year graphing activity! Completed messages will make great bulletin boards for your classroom or hallway.

Figures included:

Directions:
