Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Jacob Lawrence Storefront Scene was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. It is best to use 18 x 24 white paper for this unit, since this will be a rather large artwork. Why is Martin Luther King's birthday celebrated as a national holiday, and who was he? My students LOVE interactive storyboards! This activity would be a perfect way to finish up your study over Martin Luther King, Jr. It includes open-ended questions, vocabulary and a timeline to list five important events in MLK's lifetime. Children are very creative and can use the artwork and their own imaginations to embellish and make it their own. I use file folders as the base but large manila or construction paper can be used as well. I've included pictures to give you an idea of how to arrange it.
