French Decodable texts that align with the Science of Reading and current available reading education concepts. The easy to use texts can be utilised in the classroom with little to no preparation. Make a few copies of each text and insert into clear pockets to create a quick and easy reading centre; arrange a table with four copies to create a quiet reading group; use one-on-one with your students to assess reading levels, to gain insights to their decoding skills, and to inform your upcoming lesson plans. Who can use this resource:

Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.

Texts are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.

Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.

What grade level:

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Make your ESL classroom look different from a regular education room by considering these multilingual clothes names.

Each label takes up 1/4 of a page so they are nice and big, but not too obtrusive. There are 57 clothes for a total of 15 pages. Check out the thumbnail and the preview of some pages in the pictures. How to use:

1. Ich habe..., wer hat...? Card Game

Print out, cut up. It can be played in small or large groups. Hand out all of

the cards to pupils, each has roughly the same number of cards. The student

with the 1st card starts by asking Wer hat... The pupil with the matching

card replies Ich habe... and asks Wer hat...? The game finishes when pupils get to the last card.

During the activity teacher monitors the correct use of articles.

2. Cut and Paste Picture Dictionary

Each pupil gets 1 set of picture cards and 1 set of word cards. Pupils cut them

out. They can either glue them onto the provided sheets or in their notebooks.

Make sure they glue the picture and word cards in the correct article

category.

This literacy center or independent work activity for primary core French or primary French immersion is a hands-on way for your students to practice conjugating the four most important irregular French verbs in the present tense. Each worksheet has one verb to conjugate: être - aller - avoir - faire. Spaces are provided for each letter of the conjugations to encourage correct spelling. Directions

Materials Needed:

• One of the 10 worksheets or the editable template where you add your own words
• A regular six-sided die
• Colors
• Optional: A device with a QR code scanner (phone, tablet, etc.)

Rolling the Die:

• Students roll a six-sided die to determine which color word they read in Spanish.
• Students can also scan the QR code on the worksheet using a device with a QR code scanner to access a virtual dice roller.

Reading the Word:

• Students match the number rolled with the corresponding color word on their worksheet.
• Students read aloud the color in Spanish to practice pronunciation.

Marking Progress:

• Once students read a word, they should shade in color the box using the color that matches the Spanish word read.
• If students roll a number they have already completed, they should roll again until they land on a new word.
• Students continue rolling and reading until they have completed all the words on their worksheet.
