This is not only a fun and engaging way to learn letter formation, but students are working on foundational fine motor skills needed for writing. Students don’t have to use a pencil for writing, try broken crayons (broken crayons help promote tripod grasp pattern), q-tip painting, or fingerpaint. When writing letters for this activity, students use handwriting letter boxes to help with letter size, placement, and spacing.
