This Match-Select-Name reading unit is based on a reading intervention method developed by Patricia Oelwein. There has been a significant amount of research done on the efficacy of this method. This deck has 15 cards where students match rhyming words. Each card has a picture in the spaceship. Students will find the rhyming picture in the stars and drag and drop the rhyming word. Once they drag/drop the star, they will click submit to check their answer. It will self-check and let the students know if they have the correct answer or not.

BOOM CARDS™ are interactive task cards played on a website called Boom Learning. You must be connected to the internet to play and can play on the internet browser or on the app. To play the game you must have a free or paid account. Once you have an account, you can generate a link for your students. When you purchase this product you will download a PDF with a link inside that will take you to the game. You will be prompted to sign in or create an account. You can add this game to your personal library.

The purpose of this scavenger hunt is to familiarize/support students in using text clues to determine the subject of a book.

How to use:

This fun and engaging deck of 25 CARDS will reinforce PHONEMIC AWARENESS SKILLS in students as they work independently to identify and order the beginning, middle, and ending sound in a CVC word.

Each card includes a picture, three dots with audio of a phoneme, and a set of three ELKONIN BOXES. Students are required to listen to the picture and phonemes and drag the dots to their correct position on the Elkonin Boxes.

AUDIO is provided for all items and the first card provides AUDIO DIRECTIONS. Immediate feedback is provided and students will be automatically directed to the next card once the correct answer has been chosen.

Phonemic awareness, or the ability to MANIPULATE INDIVIDUAL SOUNDS OR PHONEMES within words, is a critical skill for children to learn prior to decoding and spelling.

This fun and engaging deck of 20 CARDS focuses on all FIVE SHORT VOWEL WORD FAMILIES with a focus on vowel sounds. All rimes end with the same consonant matched with a different vowel sound.

Each card includes a PICTURE with a beginning sound or ONSET and three RIMES. Students will DRAG-AND-DROP the onset to the correct rime and SPELL THE WORD!

AUDIO is provided for all pictures and the first card provides AUDIO DIRECTIONS.

Immediate FEEDBACK is provided, and students will be automatically directed to the next card once the correct answer has been chosen.
