What grade level:

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from Kindergarten to Grade Three will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

Where is the Object? These seasonal sight word game is great for students who are practicing sight word recognition and beginning reading skills. This game can be used in a pocket chart or on a table top for an early education classroom.

Products Included:

How to Play:

Where's the ________? is a game for centers or whole group instruction where an object is hidden behind a sight word card. Use these chants to introduce more literature into the classroom and make the books you are using relevant to music! Use the chant to "Freeda the Cheetah" to explore movement and play along with rhythm sticks. Follow up with a lesson on rhyming words. In the style of Clement Moore’s familiar Christmas poem, this story tells of a family’s last-minute preparations for summer vacation.

There are roles for three students.

Big Shark, Little Shark

Big Shark has big teeth, Little Shark has little teeth. Big Shark swims fast, Little Shark swims slow. But they are both hungry. Will they find a tasty snack?

This reader’s theater is a quick two page reader’s theater to use with emerging readers. It has two parts.

I Don't Want to Be Big

Little Frog does not want to grow up, and he gives his father all sorts of reasons why being small is best.

This reader’s theater is 3 pages long. There is one version included for three students - Child, Adult, and Pig.

I Don’t Want to Be a Frog

A frog that yearns to be any animal that is cute and warm discovers being wet, slimy, and full of bugs has its advantages.

This reader’s theater is 4 pages long. There is one version included for three students - Child, Adult, and Wolf.

The Night Before Class Picture Day

It's the night before class picture day, and kids all down the block are getting ready. Everyone wants to look perfect for the photo. They fix their hair, practice smiles, and choose outfits. At school the next day, they try to stay picture-perfect. Will everything look perfect for the big moment when they say, “Cheese?”

There are four versions included. Two of the versions have roles for three students. One version is three pages and the other version has four pages. The other two versions have roles for four students. One version is three pages and the other version has four pages.

Splat the Cat and the Quick Chicks

When Splat takes home his class project of fertilized chicken eggs, the eggs hatch and chicks wind up all over the place, forcing Splat to round them up. Based on the series created by Rob Scotton.

This reader’s theater is 4 ½ pages long. There are two versions included; one version has roles for two students and the other version has roles for three students.

This reader’s theater is 4 pages long. There is two version included in this reader's theater. The first version is for three students - Child, Adult, and Other Animals. The other version is for 7 students - Child, Adult, Rabbit, Girl Frog, Cat, Owl and Pig.

Using these six books, create engaging lessons for your students as they sing to the main characters in the story to help them fall asleep. Add instruments for extra engagement and use puppets to create a character for the children to sing to. Where is the penguin? This winter sight word game is great for students who are practicing sight word recognition and beginning reading skills. This game can be used in a pocket chart or on a table top for an early education classroom.

What is Included:

• Sight word cards for the Fry 1-300 sight word list.
• Penguin cards for hiding

The cards are available in two formats, 6 to a page and 4 to a page to accommodate different sized pocket charts.

Ways to Use:

How to Play:

Where's the Penguin is a game for centers or whole group instruction where a penguin is hidden behind a snowball. A poem is chanted where the student(s) must say the sight word they think the penguin is behind. Once guessed, the sight word is removed. If the penguin is behind the snowball, then the penguin must be hidden again to play further. If the penguin is not behind the snowball, then the poem is chanted again with a new sight word.
