Short Vowel Word Ladder Flip is a activity for students to practice substitutions with CVC words. There is a set for each vowel sound, plus the bonus cvc review which includes all 5 vowels.

To play students flip a short vowel picture card over, read the word, write the word on the ladder (for additional aid elkonin boxes are added to some mats), then flip a new card, determine the sounds/letters in that word and write on the ladder. Continue until the ladder is complete, then erase (if used in a reusable way) and play again.

*If you want more of a word chains type activity just simply order the cards you want the student to use (for example; cat, bat, bag, tag, tan, man, map...).

* for more of a challenge mix sets according to vowles that have been introduced to students.
