Together, with the teacher, students will read the book “Beautiful Oops” by Barney Saltzberg. Using this book as inspiration, students will take an “oopsie mark” and create their own original work of art.

Pumpkin Drawing is the first art lesson I teach each year so the finished drawings will be ready for parents to view during back to school night and will be ready for Halloween too. It is also a simple lesson to teach students basic coloring skills.

Materials include two lesson plans (one for oil pastel/crayon drawing and one for Chinese traditional painting), teacher step by step samples, teacher finished samples, and student finished samples.

Students learned tracing, cutting, gluing, and placing (overlapping) skills during this 2-Day Art Unit. Students shared who they were making the special pizza for and their favorite pizza toppings.
