Guided Reading Lesson Plan & Activities Grades KG-12 (13-Book Bundle)
By Bright Classroom Ideas Marketplace
Guided Reading is a research-based instruction process whereby the teacher works with small grouping of students being equal in a particular reading achievement level. The teacher provides for each reader's development of effective reading competencies. However different than in the earlier days of reading groups, small and temporary groups are flexible and dynamic. The observance and evaluation of the progress of readers are done by teachers on a systematic basis. Thus, grouping and regrouping students is based on the strengths of students and the intense changing needs throughout their reading development.
In the 1960s in New Zealand, Guided Reading was developed. It was enhanced over the years after it arrived in the United States thanks to educators like Gay Su Pinnell and Lesley Fountas. In 1996, Fountas & Pinnell published their enormously influential book, Guided Reading: Good First Teaching for All Children (Heinemann). This book changed how reading was taught, and it is still taught today to over a million teachers worldwide. The aim of Guided Reading lessons is to develop effective readers.
A set of 13 books is bundled together with all 13 worksheets of the Guided Reading series for grades KG-12. There are lesson plans and different activities for every grade, with the answers in the end section of the worksheet.

There are 20 primary sources and 3 DBQ prompts. After completing this resource, students will be able to determine what issues were important to society during this era. In addition, there are Document-Based Question prompts.

It is also ideally suited for home-schoolers, college students or independent learners who want to learn more. Teachers can assign just a few sources to analyze or the entire packet. Primary sources in the packet include text excerpts, photographs and posters. Each page of primary sources includes questions. There is also a page at the end for students to apply the HAPPY process to one source. DBQ prompts are also provided. An Answer Key to all the questions, the HAPPY primary source analysis process, and the DBQ’s is available at the end of the packet.
A separate PowerPoint presentation on How to Integrate Sources for a DBQ is included as a Bonus File.

These visuals are primary sources that the instructor can use to further student understanding beyond textbook reading. Figurative Language Set of FOUR Short Passages BUNDLE | Close Reading | No Prep
By Perfectly Planned Designs
This Figurative Language Short Passage BUNDLE includes four passages with 3 close reading and writing worksheets each - for a total of 12 high-quality worksheets! Answer Keys Included!
Figurative Language Short Passage Sets are a no-prep, printable close reading activity that's perfect for middle school and high school. Each passage has between 206-226 words and is filled with between 14-19 examples of figurative language, such as hyperbole, metaphor, simile, and personification. I’ve found that although my students can tell me the definition of these terms, simile is the only one they can truly pick out in a text. As a result, their writing is filled with overused similes that need work! These figurative language passage sets are rigorous, use higher-level words and phrases, and in addition to merely identifying the different types, students will be asked to discuss the impact it has on the reader, as they’re asked to do on standardized testing.
***Check out all my figurative language passage activities here!
Simply print and go! There is truly no preparation needed, which is why this set is perfect to leave for sub plans, bell ringers, homework, test prep, review or assessment!
*As an optional review activity, use my No-prep Four Corners Figurative Language Activity resource for a fun whole-group game, then use this passage set for assessment!
Activity:
Students can complete all three worksheets in each set as part of a packet, but I suggest using one each day. If you teach allusion, alliteration, idiom, or onomatopoeia, you can ask students to include those in Task 2 where they will be asked to continue the passage using a similar writing style. I have left some blanks on the checklist for this very purpose.
Reflection:
The class can review the answers and comments as a whole group when the activity is complete. You’ll be surprised how much better they’ll get at figurative language after being exposed to some high-quality examples!

Throughout your students’ education and lives, they will indeed grapple with many choices that test their personal values, beliefs and priorities. They will encounter all kinds of situations where they must choose between doing what’s right and doing what’s wrong. This resource can greatly help students recognize situations that involve moral issues and practice becoming better decision-makers. Students will learn what steps they can take to help them navigate and resolve moral dilemmas effectively. The lesson plan and activities also provide students the opportunity to discuss what they would do in different moral/ethical dilemmas. Introducing moral dilemmas in the classroom can open up opportunities not only for debate and critical thinking, but also for personal growth, empathy for other viewpoints, and self-reflection.
The lesson, activities, and scenarios provide guidance for real-life situations. You can use these activities and scenarios as a basis for engaging students in conversations about making decisions between right and wrong, and even have them role-play ways of resolving moral and ethical issues. These activities can help students acknowledge why certain choices might be tempting and ultimately think about other courses of actions and responses that might be better (or that will lead to more positive outcomes).

Spanish Writing Prompts Bundle with Peer Edits & Scaffolds Novice & Intermediate
By Specialty Spanish
Spanish writing prompts, especially when you make them into a group challenge, are a great way to get your Spanish 2, 3 or students writing, improving and learning from others!
Your Spanish students will look forward to working together to create writing that meets and exceeds the standards you’re looking for!
