Spanish Back To School Authentic Listening Comprehension Activity

By Specialty Spanish

Authentic listening activities with comprehensible input for Spanish class can be so hard to find!  We want our students to practice their listening skills but we don’t want to spend an hour searching for a good video!  This YouTube video is about 5 tips for starting a new school year.  A young person gives us 5 ideas about how to have a successful start to the year. This activity makes a great way to dive back into Spanish at the beginning of the year!

To check comprehension, students will answer questions as they watch, either in open-ended format or via an Edpuzzle with self-correcting multiple choice questions. Students will answer basic comprehension questions as well as personal response questions to help them make connections to their own lives.   An answer key is also included!

Are your students interested in fall-themed activities?  Maybe this bundle is right for you!  It includes group writing challenges, speaking or writing task cards and this listening activity-all with a fall theme!

Spanish Fall-Themed Activities Bundle

Who can use this product?

  • Spanish students in Year 2 or 3 and up  (It depends on when students started learning Spanish and where their proficiency level is in listening comprehension.)

How can I use this product?

  • Play the video for the class on a projector or Smartboard
  • Assign the video via Google Classroom or other learning platform
  • Assign the open-ended comprehension questions by printing or posting to a learning platform

  • Use this as a class activity, homework, sub plans or assessment!

  • Edpuzzle version with self-correcting multiple choice questions
