Part 1: The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.

Part 2: The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.

▶️ Variation #2: This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE." They are then encouraged to elaborate on their thoughts or ideas regarding each statement in the designated "COMMENTS" column.

There is ONE Leadership Self-Assessment included in this resource. Students will use the leadership statements and reflective questions to help them understand their leadership strengths and limits and learn what situations they tend to be most effective in as well as need to develop: 2 for “Always,” 1 for “Sometimes,” and 0 for “Never.” They can use this assessment tool to help them identify and assess their strengths and areas for development as a leader.

These assessment statements can also serve as a means to explore students' competencies and viewpoints regarding the topic!

Do your students need additional support identifying money, matching dollar amounts to currency and make purchases using the "next dollar up" method? This No Prep Unit reinforces these skills with progressively harder tasks beginning with matching dollar to dollar, progressing on to matching prices with dollars, then using the next dollar up method to make a purchase. The currency is US dollars from $1 to $10. There 3 levels of learning with 10 cards per level.

This is an excellent resource for Middle or High School students with IEP Math or Money Goals, Transition to Work Students, or Elem students learning money skills. It is a great addition to any math/ supported employment program or math center. These activities can also support Transition Plans!

In this Mini Socratic Seminar students will have Socratic dialogue in small groups in order to discuss and plan for a social contract. By the end of this lesson your students will have a deep understanding of what it means to have a cooperative and inclusive environment for learning!

Preparation:

  • Share the essential question with students
  • Provide time for all students to record the essential question and their personal thoughts/questions.

  • The teacher may share all possible discussion questions with students before the seminar or the teacher may share only one question at a time.

Seminar:

  • Students are placed in small groups or virtual break out rooms of 5-6 students.
  • Teacher poses the essential question.
  • Students respond to the question through writing their own questions using Costas.
  • Teacher chooses a Socratic Seminar leader for each group.
  • The leader facilitates the seminar discussion by guiding group members to a deeper and clarified consideration of the ideas, a respect for varying points of view, and adherence to and respect for the seminar process.
  • Students may pose new questions when the discussion is exhausted. New questions posed must relate to students’ ideas and contributions in response to the initial essential question.
  • Students write a list of classroom norms with their group.
