This is one of my students' favorite projects and a great way to wrap up a unit on clothing. In this project, students will embark on a virtual shopping adventure to purchase clothing items for a family in need. With $600 American dollars collected for a family affected by a recent house fire, students will use their language skills to navigate an authentic Spanish online store to select clothing items for a family of four. My fashionistas get particularly into this one!

Students will:

• Translate their American dollars into Spanish Euros

• Browse through clothing categories

• Convert to European sizes

• Add items to their virtual shopping cart

• Stay within a given budget

• Take notes on new Spanish vocabulary encountered during their shopping experience.

• Complete a "Listo de Regalos" to document their purchases

• Prepare a brief oral presentation in Spanish to share with the class.

They get cheese every day!!  I'll be adding more menus weekly as I receive them.  There are so many things a French teacher can do with these in class. Engage your students with this 2 pages worksheet, focused on the renowned Spanish festival, La Tomatina. Designed for secondary Spanish students, this resource includes a reading comprehension passage about Nico’s unforgettable experience at the Tomatina festival. Here’s what it includes:

• Reading comprehension: Students answer questions in Spanish based on Nico’s story, building skills in understanding authentic-style texts.

• Grammar practice: A focused section on the pluperfect tense (pretérito pluscuamperfecto) helps students understand the tense and gain confidence in using this advanced tense to describe actions that happened prior to other past events.

• Vocabulary and Writing practice: Key vocabulary and phrases from the text are reinforced with translation exercises, promoting retention of useful language structures related to festivals and personal experiences.

The final writing task encourages students to write about their own hypothetical festival experience, using a mix of the pluperfect and preterite tenses, opinions, and connectors. This task is an excellent way to prepare students for the writing paper of the exam while allowing them to explore cultural themes.

This worksheet can support lessons on cultural topics, serve as effective exam prep, or offer meaningful cover work for independent study.

In "Take it to Mali", introduce your kids to some great music from indigenous instruments from Africa! Using your classroom Djembe or Tubanos, learn the music by rote by taking it one rehearsal section at a time (with rehearsal markings [A], [B], [C], and so forth). This is terrific practice with your older students who want to work on alternating hands

The notation on the first space F is a bass (middle of the drum) and the x notation on the third space C is a tone (four fingers near the rim of the drum, pitched a bit higher)

At the end, wrap it up and put on a show! Want to layer it?

• Have tambourines or shakers play on specified beats (try 2 and 4)
• Have shakers play 16th notes all the way throughout or in specific sections
• Have half the class play 1st and 3rd measures, the other half play 2nd and 4th measures
• Do it in a round! :)
