By Geography & Math Made Easy
Using Exit Cards is an effective way to evaluate the progress each student. These can be used as Entrance or Exit cards depending on how it works best for you and your students. Which card is shared first, Entrance or Exit, is up to the teacher. The order is not dependent. Entrance cards are used for the purpose of helping students synthesize their learning. However, they can also be used as a formative assessment tool for the next day or week’s lesson. Teachers may place a prompt on the Entrance Card and provide time for students to think about their learning. This set includes 29 Exit Cards that can be used for any Social Studies lesson.

Lately, upsetting things have been happening in the world and our students are very much aware of them. Tens of thousands of people have protested on the streets to make their voices heard about all kinds of issues that students care about including racism, inequality, policing, discrimination, etc. Protests have spread across the nation and seem to rival the historic demonstrations of the civil rights movement. It is important for us to bring these topics into our classrooms—because students want to be part of the conversation and share their thoughts and feelings about the very issues that affect them - including racism.
This resource features 48 questions related to racism that can be used as writing prompts, discussion/debate questions, or both! These questions encourage students to think deeply about racism, the root cause of it, their experiences with it, how it should be confronted and addressed, what drives silence, the role media plays - AND SO MUCH MORE! These questions can spark some deep conversations among students. Without a doubt, these questions give students an opportunity to share their feelings and thoughts about the racism they have witnessed in their lives.
These Racism Writing or Discussion Prompts would make an AMAZING supplement to any lesson and can be used in a variety of ways.
The Break Down:
✅ 48 Racism Writing/Discussion Question TASK CARDS
These Racism Writing/Discussion Question Task Cards can be used as part of a larger lesson, in guided small groups, whole-class discussions, partner discussion before sharing out with the larger group or class, or even one-on-one with a teacher, guidance counselor, or parent/guardian! ✅ 48 Racism Writing/Discussion Question Worksheets
This resource also includes 48 Racism Writing/Discussion WORKSHEETS with lines, so students can write their responses. Each worksheet contains a question related to racism (the same questions in the Task Cards). It's a great opportunity for students to reflect about their own perspectives of racism and share their feelings about them.
⭐ These Worksheets are included in PDF and GOOGLE SLIDES versions! Text boxes have already been added to make it easier for you and your students!
⭐ These worksheets are great for “Quick Writes,” Do Now activities, Note-Taking/Reflection periods, Formative Assessments, or can simply be used as part of a larger lesson or discussion!
✅ 48 Racism Writing/Discussion Question Strips
These question strips are beautifully created and feature the same questions in the Task Cards and Worksheets. They can be cut and distributed to students. You can distribute one or two question strips to each student to think about, share their thinking and perspectives with a partner, or have them randomly choose a strip to answer, etc.
✅ LIST of Racism Questions
Also included is a 3-page LIST of RACISM QUESTIONS to allow easier access for teachers to read and select questions to work with. It’s like an overview page of the questions listed in the Task Cards, Worksheets, and Strips.

NAFTA & The U.S./Mexico Border
By Sarah Austin
This lesson is based on my own personal experience as a participant on a USA-Mexico border tour project organized by Rethinking Schools & Global Exchange that provided first-hand experience and knowledge concerning the effects of U.S. foreign policy, such as NAFTA, on the lives of ordinary people who reside in the Tijuana area. Students will be prompted to delve far beyond the mainstream explanation that answers the critical question as to why people cross the U.S.-Mexico border. This lesson will have students examine the broader context, and underlying factors to this question, which intimately tie itself to Mexico's agricultural economy. Students will identify the causal puzzle pieces, and then create a ‘LOOP’ (web) diagram that will serve to demonstrate their understandings of how these underlying causes interconnect with one another. Materials: • One 50 Slide PowerPoint • Grading Rubrics • Student Loop Diagram Examples • Printable Handouts: 1) Handout #1- Power-Point Guided Notes 2) Handout #2- The U.S.-Mexico Border Puzzle Pieces If you liked this lesson see the 'BUNDLE unit lesson' here: NAFTA & the U.S. Mexico Border Bundle I OFTEN PROVIDE FREEBIES TO MY FOLLOWERS AND ALL NEW PRODUCTS DEBUT AT 20% OFF: • Look for the green star next to my store logo at the top right corner of this page and click it to become a follower. Geography: World Government Types Legislation Structure Large Poster Size
By Geography & Math Made Easy
A zip file reader is needed to open the file.
Includes:
Government legislative structure can be hard to understand and grasp, especially when you are discussing types of government systems around the world. Who makes the laws and who approves the laws? Who is the head of government? What is a unicameral versus a bicameral legislation? This printable graphic show students examples of head of state and head of government such as monarchs, presidents, prime ministers, and chancellors. The bottom explains what the difference is between a unicameral and bicameral legislative body and gives examples of what these law-making bodies may be called around the world, such as Senate, House, Parliament, National Assembly, etc. It is important to understand that a Prime Minister in one country may not have the same roles as a Prime Minister in another country, same as a Monarch may be an absolute Monarch may be Head of Government and Head of State, where as in a country such as England which has a constitutional monarchy, the role of the monarch is only ceremonial.
This graphic is designed to bring clarity to various positions a government can have. When students read that a government has a unicameral legislation, they will understand that it only has one body such as a Parliament that makes and passes laws.
Students must understand that every government within each country may have similarities but is usually structured differently.

classroom
o Rulers for each station for students to use in reading the graphs.
o Student answer sheet, one per student or one per team to save paper and ink.
(Included)
o Exit Cards (Included)
o Timer to measure time at each station.
PREPARATION:
Laminate each station and the list of chart and graph names for each station. The list of chart and graph names will be used as a reference for students. Prepare each station with a ruler and any other supplies that may be needed.
INTRODUCTION:
Either show an introduction video (there are some suggestions below) or have students participate in the introduction activity.
PROCEDURE:
Reading Activity: Organize the class into teams of 2-4, at the teacher’s discretion. Have student groups read and discuss the student reading activity (2 pages included).
Carousel Activity: Student groups will rotate from one station to the next answering four (4) questions at each station and identifying each graph and/or chart. Based on the information provided in the reading on how to determine a graph and/or chart, students will identify each station as a graph or chart, how the data is being displayed, the name of the graph or chart, and provide an interpretation of each. Provide groups 3 minutes at each station; use a timer. You may cut down on the number of stations if- your class time is more limited. Students will work together to complete the questions for each station on their Student Answer Sheet. When the timer goes off, all groups will move on to the next station. Once the carousel activity is complete, display each chart and answer and discuss them together allowing students to correct their answers.
CLOSURE / EVALUATION:
Have students complete and submit an Exit Card
ENRICHMENT REVIEW ACTIVITY:
Have students choose a topic and create their own chart or graph as a home assignment for extra credit. They can present and display them in the classroom the next day.
