Get a quick start on AP Spanish® Unit 2: Identity! The first day of a new AP Spanis®h unit is rough! It requires essential questions, vocabulary, and a way to get students interested in the new theme. This resource contains everything you need to start Unit 2, La influencia de la lengua en la cultura y la identidad. There are 5 different resources included! Now you can finish correcting the assessments from Unit 1 because you’re all set to start this unit!

The “Hook Activity” is meant to spark interest by provoking students to make connections to their own lives or to ask questions. This hook activity is in the form of personalized questions, and asks students to give their opinions on topics that will interest them. Students are asked to turn and talk about their answers with a partner after they write. As an added benefit, students can activate prior knowledge as they start to see the relevance of this topic to their own lives!

The Essential Questions (3) and the Vocabulary List (1 ¼ pages) with a pre-made Quizlet are already done for you too! And there is even a vocab activity that you can use as a warm-up or homework assignment!

These resources are made with Google Docs so they can be edited if it suits your needs to do so!

These Spanish Task Cards are geared towards spring activities, vacations and events. Situation Task Cards are a great way to get your Spanish 1, 2, 3 and 4 students talking and using language creatively! (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)

There are 20 different scenarios which give students an idea of what to talk about in a story that they make up. The task cards come in 3 versions! First I have a large scale digital version that can be displayed for the class. The other version is printable (4 cards per page) and comes in both black and white and an attractive color version. Slides come with helpful vocab that students may need to discuss the scenario.

These spring-themed task cards feature scenarios for present, past and future time frames. Google Slides can be modified if you need to change something to meet your students’ needs!

Also included is a peer feedback sheet and a self-assessment sheet and a vocab list for spring vocabulary!

Is reading comprehension getting boring in your Spanish class? Turn it into a game! This story about a mysterious accident goes from dull to exciting as students work together and move around the room! This is a simple “print and go” with no work for the teacher!

The students play the role of the crime scene investigator. They have to read all 10 parts of the story to get the full picture of what took place at the scene of an accident. While they read the parts, they are also looking for “code words”. Students record the code words on a special answer sheet that will eventually lead them to solving the mystery of how this accident happened! It’s so much fun!

After, you can decide which of the 3 follow-up activities you want to do with your students. There are a True or False Activity, Put Events in Order Activity and Tell Me in Your Own Words Activity. Answer keys are also included. Best of all? If there’s something you’d like to change for your students, you are free to edit!

Do you struggle to incorporate real-world, authentic reading in your Spanish classroom? This amazing interpretive reading activity about what happens to your body when you stop drinking soft drinks will get your kids reading and analyzing an authentic resource from the Spanish-speaking world. To make this resource even better, it now includes versions compatible with Google Classroom™, perfect for make-up work!

In this activity, your students will:

identify vocabulary related to health
determine the main idea
identify supporting details
guess the meaning of words based on the context
answer comprehension questions
make inferences about the text
write a personal reaction to the infographic

This reading and writing activity makes a great addition to any health and wellness or food and nutrition unit, from Spanish 2 through AP (as an introduction to the unit). It also makes a great pre-reading activity for an article about soft drinks (there are three suggested articles in the product).

There are five versions of the resource included in a zipped file:

version 1 is a printable PDF with all directions and questions in English
version 2 is a printable PDF with all directions and questions in Spanish.
versions 3 and 4 are editable Google Forms™, one with all directions and questions in English, the other in Spanish.
version 5 is a non-editable Google Slides™ resource, formatted just like the printable PDF versions, with added text boxes so that students can type their answers on the slide (while in edit mode) before submitting

PLEASE NOTE: the infographic is NOT included with this product due to copyright laws and you must access it at the following link: infographic. These Spanish Scenario Task Cards are geared towards Daily Routine situations. Scenario Task Cards are a great, NO PREP way to get your Spanish 2, 3 and 4 students speaking or writing and using language creatively! They have open-ended prompts for students to use while speaking or writing. (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)

These Daily Routine scenario task cards feature scenarios perfect for practicing talking about different schedules students or adults may have. The prompts ask students to talk about themselves and others in present, past and future time frames. The prompts are in English. Google Slides can be modified if you need to change something to meet your students’ needs!

Bonus! Also included is a peer feedback sheet and a self-assessment sheet!

Appropriate for students in Spanish 2, 3, 4 and 5

How can I use this product?

Teacher notes for the multiple ways to use these are included in the slides!
Pair students and have them take turns telling stories based on their scenario
Ask students to give peer feedback or self-assess
Display task cards on your Smartboard for the class. Have one partner make up a story. Set a timer and challenge them to try to talk the entire time! Change the slide and have the other partner take a turn!
Use these task cards as multiple versions of a speaking assessment. This allows for student choice and/or prevents students sharing the exact task for advance preparation.
These task cards can also be used for writing prompts or assessments!
Ask students to peer or self-assess using the included forms

Looking for a GAME that will make SPEAKING FUN in Spanish class? This spring-themed speaking activity will get students using their Spanish creatively! This low-prep game, called Flower Power, will have students competing to tell stories about a spring day! Easy to differentiate and scaffold with the included teacher instructions and vocab list!

How to play:

-Students choose flowers (each flower has a spring-related word)

-Students must create a story with the words on the flowers, forcing them to think on their feet and create a logical story with random words!

The variations of this game are endless and you can play it all spring long!

-Have students choose their own flowers or

-Have their opponent pick for them!

-Give students as much time as they need to tell their story or

-Set a time limit. Whoever used more flowers wins!

-Have students pick flowers one at a time instead of all at once

-Change the verb tense

-Change their opponents

-Try 2 v 2!

** You can even use this as a writing practice instead of speaking!

This Intermediate-Mid level listening activity about a Bachata Competition is a great way to scaffold listening to help prepare students for AP Spanish. Do your Spanish students need some help with interpersonal speaking? Are they struggling to have partner conversations in Spanish? Let’s give them some guided support with these guided conversations! Both students will have the opportunity to ask and answer questions as part of a conversation, but with a lot of scaffolding to build confidence.

There are 4 guided conversations, differentiated for Novice and Intermediate speakers. Each conversation has a Person A and a Person B, each with a role set by the conversation theme. Students are guided with general ideas for how to keep the conversation going!

These conversations focus on travel and vacation in the past time frame (preterite and imperfect). However, the conversations are designed to be as realistic as possible, and students have the opportunity to use other time frames and give advice if they wish.

Are you practicing presentational writing skills with your Spanish students? How about a Group Challenge that focuses on Springtime?! This fun and engaging writing challenge will get your students to work together in small groups to produce high quality writing! This resource includes appropriate writing prompts for years 1, 2 and 3. Planning done for your whole day!

What I love about writing in this format is that teachers can provide specific feedback and even a grade in about ⅕ of the time! We can improve students’ skills and confidence by using peer discussion to clear up confusion about things like conjugating verbs and word order in sentences too! This is a high impact activity to use with your students!

This resource features 4 writing prompts at 2 levels: 2 for Novice High and 2 for Intermediate Low. Linked in is a blog post about Spring Festivals in Spain. Have your students give it a read and they can incorporate what they learned in their writing! There are lots of extras included too!
