Reading Passage Overview - "The End of the World"

This reading passage examines the short story of a boy being pulled in a million different directions who needs to set boundaries in order to take care of himself. The worksheets are about the benefits of setting these boundaries and dealing with stress.

Anticipation guides are excellent tools that can be used before reading to activate students' prior knowledge and build curiosity about a new topic and/or to share ideas about key concepts. Students respond to several statements that challenge or support their preconceived ideas about key concepts as well as their peers’ ideas. Job / Work Skills are an important part of our Middle School / High School special education / Autism student’s learning. Teaching students vocational skills is a critical part of a special education / transition to work program. This unit helps students practice job, pre-vocational, and life skills by reading the last name on an envelope and sorting the mail into the correct mailbox.

There are 3 Levels. Level 1 has 6 mail boxes with same color coding. Level 2 has 9 mailboxes with different color coding, and Level 3 has 12 mailboxes with NO color coding. Each level is progressively more difficulty and the cues / prompts are faded. There are 12 choices (mailboxes). The student will read the "mail" and determine the last name of the recipient. They will then choose the correct mailbox to "deliver" the mail based on the last name of the recipient and the mailbox.

This Bulletin Board Visual Schedule Set can be used with your whole class or for each individual student in your classroom. Having a daily visual schedule up on the board for students to refer to can be a great strategy to help increase predictability in a student’s day and reduce anxiety.

This Visual Schedule Board set will allow you to have a daily classroom agenda for individual students or your whole class to refer to throughout the day.

If you are teaching in a classroom where students are following different schedules throughout the day, this set is perfect for creating individual visual schedules for each student. I will usually section off a portion of one of my boards in columns large enough to fit the board labels, making sure there is one column for each student. From there, I will have each student’s name at the top, and then their individual schedule below their name.

There is also a “set schedule” label, which prompts students to use the large schedule on the board to follow as they set their own personal visual schedule for the day. (Check out my Visual Schedule set for personal visual schedule options!). This increases independence for students as they manage their own individual schedule for the day.

There are also editable name and subject labels so that you can personalize and individualize schedules for your classroom and your students.

This is a paper based, Cinco De Mayo themed resource. Examples of products featured: chips, piñata, sombreros, queso, taco kit, etc.

This resource is designed to expose students to a variety of real-world shopping situations. Students are given a prices on products and are asked to look at the money provided and determine if they have enough money. Students will also be asked look at the price of real products and identify the correct amount of money needed. Students will also calculate totals of multiple items

How to use this product:

Differentiate your Life / Daily Living skills lessons with this Multi-Level Kitchen Tools Identification Bundle! This functional vocabulary kitchen tools activity is a fun and engaging way to teach identifying kitchen tools / utensils. Students need to know what tools are used in the kitchen when they are planning on cooking or working in a restaurant. Learning the tools found in the kitchen improve the life and work skills for all students.

Teaching students daily living/life skills is a critical part of a special education adaptive curriculum program. This unit helps students learn to identify 30 common kitchen tools and then apply that knowledge into how each tool is used in the kitchen.

There are 3 Levels.

✭Level 1 provides direct instruction in familiarizing students with tools used in a kitchen. There are 30 total self-grading Google Slides activity cards where the student matches the same kitchen tool out of a choice of 3 tools. If the student chooses the “correct” slides, they will see a "correct" slide and if it is incorrect, they will see a "try again" slide and they will have an opportunity to try again.
