Negative thoughts have a profound effect on students’ academic and social successes, behaviors, emotions, self-esteem, and happiness. Negative thinking and self-talk can hold them back and keep them from reaching their full potential. In cognitive behavioral therapy, there are dozens of thinking errors that cause the mind to believe things that are just not true. These writing and discussion questions helps students to understand and reflect about the concept of negative thinking and mindsets and how they themselves can avoid self-defeating thoughts. They can spark some really thoughtful discussions!

Most students have cell phones and communicate with family, friends, and classmates through text messaging. Just about ALL students are familiar with text messaging. Why not teach and practice social skills, kindness, empathy, effective communication, and SO MUCH MORE in such a way that appeals to their interests?! No student will be able to resist these activities - for real!
This resource includes a total of 12 Text Messaging Activity Worksheets that come in four different text messaging formats! There are three worksheets for each format, totaling 12 text messaging worksheets. Students are asked to read a text message, some longer than others, and respond appropriately. Responding appropriately to text messages despite feelings of anger, frustration, betrayal, etc. can greatly help students prevent conflicts from escalating and drama from arising. Additionally, these activities give students an opportunity to "FILTER THEIR THOUGHTS and MOUTHS"! They will ultimately understand the concept that it's not what is said, but how it is said. They will feel encouraged to choose their words wisely when communicating with others.
The text message conversations and topics are age appropriate, HIGHLY relevant, familiar, and FUN! Students will easily identify with some of the people engaging in these text conversations. It would be interesting to see what students can infer and how they will respond in such situations. Additionally, you can extend these conversations by having students read them aloud so they can "hear" what social skills sounds like and what it doesn't.
☆☆☆ The different variations can greatly support your differentiation efforts!

Self-control, also known as Self-Regulation, is about appropriately managing your thoughts, feelings, and impulses. Self-regulation is the ability to understand and manage your behavior, reactions, and emotions to things that happen around you. It starts with being consistently mindful of yourself and others.
Self-control (or self-regulation) is an important executive functioning life skill that students need to develop in order to help them:
★ regulate reactions to strong emotions like frustration, excitement, anger and embarrassment
★ calm down after something exciting or upsetting happens
★ control impulses
★ react and behave in ways that help them get along with other people
✅ This resource features 20 relevant Self-Control Scenarios followed by a question to get students to think about how they can manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in these challenging situations. They are asked to explain how they would appropriately handle such situations.
✅ These fun, real-life Self-Control Scenarios allow students to discuss a variety of situations and brainstorm effective solutions to otherwise difficult situations. It's a great opportunity for students to reflect about their own behaviors and emotions in different social situations and consider strategies they can use to help them manage their emotions and respond appropriately. These scenarios can foster some great discussions!

How/When To Use the Scenario Task Cards
⭐ Role-Playing: Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios and demonstrate appropriate responses. Role-playing activities can also be used to demonstrate how to appropriately handle or navigate difficult situations associated with anger and self-control. Students can practice and learn the variety of ways they can handle situations that test their ability to control their actions and behaviors. This activity can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.
⭐ Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.
⭐ Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skits for the class.
⭐ Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/ situations. They can evaluate whether or not their approaches to solving problems (despite feelings of anger, frustration, betrayal, etc.) is appropriate or inappropriate and offer other possible solutions and/or suggestions on how to best handle difficult situations and cope with these emotions.
⭐ Discussion: Students can discuss the Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class. They can discuss things like "What can you do to control your emotions, behavior, actions, etc.", "What healthy coping skills can you use to calm down in situations that make you angry?", etc.

It’s so important that we learn how to respond to others in an effective way. As educators, we often see our students struggle to communicate with empathy and respect. Being able to have constructive conversations is an essential skill for our students to learn.
This resource equips teachers with practical suggestions for a positive approach to communication. Too often we see our students wrestling with ways to talk to each other that are socially sensitive. Especially in times of conflict, we want to provide our students with productive ways to verbalize their thoughts and feelings. It’s critical that our students learn to listen to each other while also feeling heard.
Responding to others with constructive words is a beneficial skill for our middle and high school students to learn. This ability to talk to others kindly is a life skill they will need in their daily life not just as kids and teenagers but into the future too.
This resource features a total of 10 different communication scenarios with an example of a "rude" or "mean" response statement. (Statements also have negative tones). Students must read the scenarios (or situations) and the "rude/mean/negative-toned" response statements provided TO FRIENDS and:

Teens today face an array of social, emotional, and internal challenges/conflicts. In their day-to-day life, they have to navigate difficult situations and sometimes complex interactions with others. Our students are learning how to make constructive decisions about important and impactful life events. It is possible that our students may be dealing with demanding situations at home, school, and their neighborhoods. Perhaps they are facing new problems with friends. They may be finding their growing responsibilities overwhelming. In some cases, our middle and high school students may feel alone in making decisions that will influence the rest of their lives.
As teachers, we have a unique opportunity to encourage our students to reflect about their experiences, thought processes, and decision-making - and consider the most appropriate ways of handling and coping with their challenges.
This resource includes 24 highly relevant reflection questions related to teen issues that many teenagers face today and will continue to face as they progress in their lives. Students are asked to reflect about particular topics, discuss their experiences with these topics, and then think about behaviors and actions they can take to help them cope with or resolve their conflicts, challenges, or issues. All questions present a problem that students will think about and share experiences with and then end with solution-based responses.
Discussing these questions and using them to brainstorm effective ways to navigate conflicts and other difficult situations can help your students make wise, responsible decisions when and if they are later confronted with similar situations.
This resource includes 24 questions related to the following topics:
⭐ Bullying and Cyberbullying
⭐ Social Boundaries and Personal Space

In this engaging small group activity, students are placed in groups of 3–5 and given a question worksheet with either numbers 1–6 (for one die) or 2–12 (for two dice), based on a topic of your choosing or one selected by the students. Taking turns, each student rolls the die (or dice), matches the number rolled to a question on the sheet, and answers it aloud. Group members may respond, relate, or ask follow-up questions. The activity continues until everyone has answered 2–3 questions, encouraging reflection, connection, and meaningful conversation.
**✨ **This complete packet includes a total of 220 “Get to Know Me” questions designed to help students learn more about each other—and give you valuable insight into who they are as individuals.✨
What’s Included:
Three worksheet formats:
✔️ 20 - One Die Worksheets (1-6 Questions) – One student rolls the die.
They look at the number rolled and find the matching question on the sheet.
That student answers the question aloud. Others in the group can comment, relate, or ask a follow-up question (optional). Students keep taking turns until everyone has answered 2–3 questions, depending on time.
✔️ 20 - Two Dice Worksheets (2-12 Questions) – One student rolls both dice at the same time. They add the two numbers together and find the matching question (2–12) on the sheet. That student answers the question aloud.
Others in the group can comment, relate, or ask a follow-up question (optional). Students keep taking turns until everyone has answered 2–3 questions, depending on time.
✔️ 2 Student-led format Blank Worksheets are included to support both versions of the activity. Each group collaborates to create their own “Get to Know Me” questions based on a chosen topic. The one-die worksheet features 6 numbered spaces (1–6) where you or your students can **generate your own questions. **The two-dice worksheet includes 11 numbered spaces (2–12) for students to also create their own questions based on the total of two dice rolls. Both worksheets are provided in PDF format for printing and a digital version for use in Google Slides or other online platforms.
✔️ This resource also includes three teacher guidance worksheets, each aligned to the activity formats to ensure you know exactly how to begin and facilitate these engaging dice-rolling activities. The guidance sheets provide a clear overview of the purpose of the activity, a list of topic editions, materials needed, setup instructions, and step-by-step directions for how to play.
Whether you're using the one-die or two-dice version, these guides make it easy to implement the activity with confidence. Each version also includes a blank student worksheet—one with 6 spaces (for 1–6) and one with 11 spaces (for 2–12)—so students can generate their own questions based on the topic. This added flexibility allows for greater student engagement and personalization.

This "All About Me" resource goes beyond the "What is your favorite color?" "Who is your best friend?" "How many siblings do you have?", etc. Instead, this resource includes questions that gives you access into your students' minds and develop an understanding of what their thinking is like, what their deepest thoughts are, how they feel about themselves, what makes them happy, what makes them sad, how they view and feel about themselves, something they often question about life, what keeps them up at night, etc.
These worksheets ask more higher level reflection questions that they have probably never considered like: "How do I view myself?" "What do I need to change about myself?" "What are my fears are?" "Do I love myself? Why or why not?" and "Something I wish I could have done differently" - type questions.
Yes, there are very few basic questions (as I considered lower-level students when creating these worksheets), but most questions are intended to capture students' inner thoughts and feelings about life and about themselves - the "REAL" them. This resource provides an opportunity for you to really know WHO THEY ARE!
⭐ The graphics, fonts, and borders in these worksheets are so visually appealing, your students will love them!

★ react and behave in ways that help them get along with other people
This resource includes 32 questions related to self-control/self-regulation. The questions give students an opportunity to reflect about what it means to have self-control, their understanding of self-control, and even share their personal experiences related to self-control. These questions can also be used to determine and assess students' understanding of self-control and encourage meaningful discussions.
