The Significance of Act 3, Scene 1 in Hamlet - PowerPoint

By Mark Barrett

This is a 14-slide PowerPoint presentation which includes a video extract from the RSC of the famous soliloquy being performed.

It considers the main themes of the Scene but also includes some questions for students to think about and/or discuss, as well as a more detailed analysis of how a particular question might be approached.

  • The presentation focuses on Act 3, Scene 1 of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. It begins by setting the scene and introducing the characters, providing context for the themes discussed later. The main themes explored are appearance vs. reality and madness.
  • Setting the Scene: The scene takes place in the castle of Elsinore, where the characters are gathered to watch a play. The atmosphere is tense due to Hamlet’s erratic behavior.
  • Introduction of Characters: Key characters include Hamlet, Ophelia, Polonius, and the Players. Each character’s role and significance in the play are discussed.
  • Appearance vs. Reality: This theme is explored through Hamlet’s soliloquy and the Players’ performance. Hamlet’s soliloquy reveals his distrust of appearances and his desire for truth, while the Players’ performance highlights how appearances can be deceiving.
  • Madness: The theme of madness is closely linked to appearance vs. reality. The characters’ behavior and dialogue are analyzed to uncover the extent of their mental breakdown.
  • Conclusion: The presentation concludes by emphasizing the intertwined themes of appearance vs. reality and madness, and their significance in Act 3, Scene 1 of Hamlet.
  • Discussion Points: The presentation ends with discussion points to engage the audience in further analysis of the themes and characters.

How to Study for Math Tests Checklist for Students | Half and Full Sheets

By AbsoluteValueMath

If your math students struggle with knowing how to study for math, this checklist could minimize their confusion and help guide them towards better habits!

I have used this in my own high school classrooms & have seen more success with teaching students how they study for math than before I gave it to them!

What you get:

- A checklist with 2 sections:

--- Section 1: Are you prepared to study?

--- Section 2: Did you study properly?

- 4 versions

--- half sheet no color

--- half sheet color

--- full sheet no color

--- full sheet color

Here's a little story :)

Year after year I would announce an exam for WEEKS & then the day of the test I would inevitably get “oh no! There is a test today?!”

When I asked students if they studied for a math test the response was ”it’s math. You can’t study anyway”

This led me down a really long path of trying to figure out how to help students succeed in math.

I started by working on having students understand the WHY behind each topic so they naturally knew how to go about problem solving.

That worked for a few and still students weren’t studying!

I began asking my students a list of questions to determine if they studied. Most of the time the answers were “no”.

”Did you re-do the questions we did in class?”

Response: Why would I do that? The answers are right there anyway!

To make a very long story a littler shorter, I came up with a checklist that I handed out. Every time there was an exam my students would use the checklist to try and complete every single box! From planning to study to actually studying, the more boxes they completed the better they did!

If you find this useful, leave a review and get TeachShare credit! :)

Order of Draw Booklet

By Melissa W

Creating a study guide for the "order of draw" is crucial for anyone involved in the field of phlebotomy, as it ensures that cross-contamination of additives between different blood collection tubes is prevented. The order of draw refers to the sequence in which blood collection tubes should be filled during venipuncture, and adhering to this order is essential for obtaining accurate laboratory results. Here's a simplified guide to help you study and remember the order:

  • Blood Culture Bottle or Yellow-Stoppered Tube: These are used first for microbiological specimens, such as blood cultures, requiring sterile handling. The yellow stopper indicates the presence of an additive that prevents blood clotting and stabilizes microbial growth.
  • Light, Blue-Stoppered Tube: This tube contains sodium citrate, an anticoagulant, and is used primarily for coagulation studies. Filling this tube to its proper fill volume is crucial because it maintains the correct blood-to-anticoagulant ratio.
  • Red-Stoppered Tube: This tube is often used for serology and chemistry tests. It may or may not contain a clot activator but lacks any anticoagulant properties. It's used for tests that require serum.
  • Gold or Tiger Top Tube (SST): The Serum Separator Tube (SST) contains a gel separator and clot activator. After centrifugation, the gel creates a barrier between the serum and blood cells, making it ideal for chemistry tests requiring serum.
  • Green-Stoppered Tube: This tube contains heparin (either sodium, lithium, or ammonium) as an anticoagulant. It's used for chemistry tests on plasma or whole blood.
  • Lavender or Pink-Stoppered Tube: These tubes contain EDTA as an anticoagulant and are primarily used for hematology tests, such as CBC (complete blood count). The pink-stoppered tube is specifically used for blood bank testing.
  • Gray-Stoppered Tube: This tube contains potassium oxalate as an anticoagulant and sodium fluoride as a glycolysis inhibitor, making it ideal for glucose (blood sugar) and alcohol levels testing.

Remembering the order can be facilitated by mnemonic devices or associations, and frequent practice in drawing blood will help reinforce this knowledge. Always ensure to invert tubes gently after drawing to mix the blood with the additives, and never forget the importance of proper identification and handling of specimens to prevent pre-analytical errors.

APES Unit 3 Exam Review

By EduCraft Marketplace

This is a complete review for Unit 3 based off of the AP Course and Exam Description. I have the learning objective and essential knowledge for each topic listed on the page with that particular topic review, and I tried to put questions / tasks that address these. Also, I tried to incorporate tasks that would "hit" areas that students sometimes struggle.

There are two files. One is the student document and the other is the answer key. PLEASE don't post the answer key for the students to search up.

I would appreciate any feedback - I will be going in and update / make changes as I use this with my students so feedback from other APES teachers is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
