Where is the present? This Christmas sight word game is great for students who are practicing sight word recognition and beginning reading skills. This game can be used in a pocket chart or on a table top for an early education classroom.

What is Included:

• Sight word cards for the all 200 sight words.
• Present cards for hiding

The cards are available in two formats, 6 to a page and 4 to a page to accommodate different sized pocket charts.

Ways to Use:

• small group game
• whole class game
• circle time game
• student led literacy center
• one on one instruction to target specific sight words for struggling students

How to Play:

Where's the Present is a game for centers or whole group instruction where a present is hidden behind a Christmas tree. A poem is chanted where the student(s) must say the sight word they think the present is behind. Once guessed, the sight word is removed. If the present is behind the Christmas tree, then the present must be hidden again to play further. If the present is not behind the Christmas tree, then the poem is chanted again with a new sight word.

Sort between word families with this Christmas tree themed sorting center. Print the trees and ornaments on card stock. Laminate the pieces for durability. Here is a set of Gingerbread Boy Fry first 100 sight word posters and flashcard. They can be used at center time or any other time to help students practice high frequency word recognition in order to build reading fluency. The flashcards can be printed more than once to create games such as match or go fish.
