What grade level:

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from Kindergarten to Grade Three will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.

A Book Study for DOG MAN 7 - For Whom the Ball Rolls by Dav Pilkey.

At school the next day, they try to stay picture-perfect. Will everything look perfect for the big moment when they say, “Cheese?”

There are four versions included. Two of the versions have roles for three students. One version is three pages and the other version has four pages. The other two versions have roles for four students. One version is three pages and the other version has four pages.

Splat the Cat and the Quick Chicks

When Splat takes home his class project of fertilized chicken eggs, the eggs hatch and chicks wind up all over the place, forcing Splat to round them up. Based on the series created by Rob Scotton.

This reader’s theater is 4 ½ pages long. There are two versions included; one version has roles for two students and the other version has roles for three students.

This reader’s theater is 4 pages long. There is two version included in this reader's theater. The first version is for three students - Child, Adult, and Other Animals. The other version is for 7 students - Child, Adult, Rabbit, Girl Frog, Cat, Owl and Pig.

Using these six books, create engaging lessons for your students as they sing to the main characters in the story to help them fall asleep. Add instruments for extra engagement and use puppets to create a character for the children to sing to. Use the chant to "Freeda the Cheetah" to explore movement and play along with rhythm sticks. Follow up with a lesson on rhyming words. The chant for "One Lonely Fish" is perfect for keeping a steady beat and making this book more engaging for your little ones. Where is the present? This Christmas sight word game is great for students who are practicing sight word recognition and beginning reading skills. This game can be used in a pocket chart or on a table top for an early education classroom.

How to Play:

Where's the Present is a game for centers or whole group instruction where a present is hidden behind a Christmas tree. A poem is chanted where the student(s) must say the sight word they think the present is behind. Once guessed, the sight word is removed. If the present is behind the Christmas tree, then the present must be hidden again to play further. If the present is not behind the Christmas tree, then the poem is chanted again with a new sight word.

This packet is a literature response to several books at Level J, Level K, Level L and Level M. It can be used as a literature response for a book club or as a whole class reading comprehension packet. These packets can also be used during guided reading.
