A game that will keep your students entertained, engaged, and competitively charged with identifying chord quality, here's One "Minor" Imposter inspired by "Among Us"!

IN ONE MINOR IMPOSTER, YOU WILL LISTEN TO 2, 3, 4 EVEN 5 CREWMATES PLAY MAJOR CHORDS ONE BY ONE. ONE OF THE MAJOR CHORDS IS ACTUALLY NOT THE MAJOR CHORD PERFORMED!

YOUR TASK IS TO DECIDE WHICH CREWMATE IS THE IMPOSTER BY SELECTING THE CREWMATE WHO PLAYED THE MINOR CHORD INSTEAD OF THE MAJOR CHORD

HERE WILL BE ONLY ONE CREWMATE WHO IS THE IMPOSTER

In each example is a piano/guitar/harpsichord mix with different background percussion tempos to keep the kids engaged. Each crewmate, lined up on the powerpoint (1, 2, 3, etc) will be representative of the musical example played.

Included in this resource are

• Mp3 examples embedded in each question (15 questions)
• A printout where you can replicate and cut out cards (if you want the students to place on the floor or hold up to show which one was the imposter)
• 3 levels of rhythms with 3 crewmates (2 major crewmates, 1 minor imposter), 4 crewmates (3 major crewmates, 1 minor imposter), and 5 crewmates (4 major crewmates, 1 imposter)

In this rhythmic identifying game (fastest one wins!), students will see a rhythm displayed on the board with a box (one beat or two beats) inside the rhythm. These boxes will be blank and can hold different types of beats to complete the rhythmic phrase

The students will then listen to an example of music and figure out which of the available boxes (with corresponding rhythms) would complete the rhythm shown on the screen! Simply click on the sound icon, have the students listen, and then advance the slide when they choose the correct answer.

There are 10 musical examples in this lesson and works great with some of the younger elementary students. They can either vocalize "1st" "2nd" or "3rd" box, come up to the screen and pick, or have a race to see who can select the correct box first.

Based off the hit Windows 3.11 game we all knew and loved, Rhythm Sweeper is a progressive game where one slip can end you up on the dreaded mine! This will have your kids reading and mastering rhythms in NO TIME! Students will see a grid of 40 squares on the home page. Each square contains either a link to a rhythm.... or a mine :) I select one student at a time to pick a number. I'll then click on the number and it'll advance to the designated slide. If it's a rhythm, we add that rhythm to the Building Board on the home page. The teacher will click "Back to Game and Building Board" and put the rhythm they just received on the board. As for the rhythms they earned, you can cut out rhythms, write them in dry erase, or have a student keep tabs on the side. Students will now say, sing, or play the rhythm back. Then we repeat! See how it gets progressive? ;) ...until the mine! There are 5 mines in each game, and once the mine is hit, it's GAME OVER! At the end, you can tally up how many beats the class amassed (which is great if you can allow student to add it up as the game has half, quarter, and pairs of eighth notes). Compete against other classes, or themselves! There are 10 files in the pack and each one is completely different (all the rhythms are mixed up and of course, so are the mines) Have fun with this! The newest sensation, "Write the Room" has an 8-bit twist as we present to you a MINECRAFT Notation version of the popular game!

In Write the Room, students will all receive a sheet of paper with 9 answer boxes with a Minecraft character representing each box. There will be 9 sheets (placed strategically around the room by you!) that students will have to find and write the rhythm down that accompanies that character. Once all 9 answers are completed, they will show to you to verify that all rhythms are correct!

To play:

• Print the "Write the Room" Minecraft master file to 5 sheets and cut along the dotted lines. Place these anywhere you wish around the room (and of course, the level of difficulty of where to place it is COMPLETELY up to you!)
• Print a class set of the "Write the Room" Minecraft Student Answer sheets (it's okay if it's not in color, it can be in black and white or grayscale, the students will know the characters by heart!)
• Make sure everyone has something to write with it and... GO!

Play some music in the background and have the kids roam around the room as fast as they can. Neatness counts! :D

In this rhythm reading exercise for Boomwhackers, up to 5 boomwhacker colors will appear on the screen (an assortment of notes from the octave, red, orange, yellow, lime, green, purple, and pink)

Each color has a different rhythm and the color will be assigned to that rhythm and repeat as many times as necessary.

When you advance the slide, the rhythms and colors change around, giving everyone an opportunity to play a different rhythm and at a different time during the game.

You can play this a few ways

• As is with everyone playing at once
• In a round (having the 1st color go 4x, then 2nd color add on 4x, 3rd, etc)
• Call and response (have 2 or 3 play first, then have the other remaining students play)
• Have the students read down EVERY rhythm regardless of color (go clockwise or counterclockwise)
• Some play forte, some piano
• With or without music or accompaniment tracks

Included are instrumental accompaniment tracks but feel free to use your own! There are 16 different variations of rhythms and Boomwhackers colors in this resource

So you've finally covered all of the instruments and their respective families! How's about an interactive game where the students identify the instruments in the order they hear them? Look no farther than Instrument Drag n' Drop! Students will listen to the musical examples (some synthesized and some real samples!) and be given 3 instrument choices (some all in the same family, some in different families, and some within the same range). After listening to the musical instruments, students have to put those instruments in the order that they heard them. If you're using an interactive whiteboard, students can drag the instrument to the answer box below after they are finished listening the example. The teacher will then advance the slide to display the correct answer! There are 10 examples included in this lesson along with 10 corresponding sound files. Although designed for an IWB, students can play on personal dry erase boards or can even split the class up boys vs girls, team 1 vs team 2, etc, and have a race to identify the correct answers in the correct order first first. This is a series of chants for various books in the Little Old Lady Series Books. Use these with your students from PreK-2nd grade to chant at various repetitive points in each story. Use the chants with the following books: There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shell, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Rose, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books and There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Truck.

Start with steady beat and then, if you wish, have students decode them for various rhythms. Add instruments such as hand drums, frame drums, etc. to add a musical element to these books.

Are you as hungry as I am? Let's eat! Identify rhythms in proper nouns with this fun activity. Students will see a food (or foods!) and their corresponding word (or words!) and given two plates on each slide. Have the students identify the syllables in the food and match it to either rhythm on plate number 1 or plate number 2. After kids lock in their answer, advance the slide and reveal the answer! Most are eighth and quarter note rhythms, but some have eighth note triplets and 4 sixteenths group in the examples You can also play it as an assessment and have kids work individual or in teams. There's a powerpoint and PDF included in this package and there are 13 sets of foods go through and can last up to 30-45 minutes depending on what pace you go in the activity. Working on aural theory with your kids? With "Rhythm Mixup" students shuffle up notecards with quarter notes, 2-beamed eighth notes, half notes, and quarter rests to reflect the musical example being played! We start off the first lesson (level 1) with a brief overview of rhythm from Quaver's Marvelous World of Music, and then head right into rhythm mixup. Students will lay out their notation cards (you can either print these out or have the students draw them on a whiteboard, etc), and then a musical example will be played. Students will have to put the notes in the order that they hear the music example -- hence, the "mixup"! Level 2, goes into quarter rests and the students will have to place it appropriately (hint: it's never at the beginning or end of the phrase!) :) Students identify rhythms upon hearing them and use their aural skills to dictate where each rhythm is placed. Make sure to play these several times, especially for the younger ones so they can check their work! Designed in Powerpoint 2007, all animations and transitions should work on machines that support it. A file is included for instructions on how to install fonts. The following up to the best-selling "Here comes the Boom!", is our new-look, updated format "Here comes the Boom AGAIN!" Each box contains a number of beats and the corresponding boomwhacker tubes that go along with beats (color-coded for your kids to view)! To the teacher’s discretion, students can play quarter notes, half notes, eighth note patterns, or simply create their own rhythms and improvise within the specific beat period. Teachers can also assign rhythms (quarter and eighth note patterns). Get your class on beat! Included are 24 background tracks with ethnic flair -- tablas, bongos, electric kits, and drum sets for your kids to jam with. The 24 tracks vary from 95 bpm all the way to 125 bpm (there are 6 different tracks with 4 different tempo)

I use these in my class for Orff, Boomwhacker, Rhythm Sticks, Dancing, Movement, or singing activities. The tracks go for about 1 minute each, but you can manipulate a longer track by having it stay on repeat for as long as you wish

The Symphony Orchestra just performed and Steve the Sanitation Engineer has a cart full of leftover notes from the concert. His primary job is to recycle them quickly to turn them into more music. In this game, your students will see a note appear on the screen and have to say how many beats are shown. After the student gets the correct answer "4 beats", "2 beats", "7 beats", etc, the powerpoint slide advances, and the animated note gets thrown into the Rhythm Recycler! For all of their hard work, they earn cold hard CASH! Keep track of the cash in the upper right hand corner of the power while students reinforce understanding notation values. You can play this as a class, individually, boys vs. girls, class vs. class whatever you wish! I usually play this as a class and have each student individually go behind the projector and yell the beats, and let the next student come up. I put on a 3 or 4 minute timer with background music and they'll see their finally tally of cash at the end. Very cool and VERY competitive! Engaging lesson to the max! All of the animations are embedded inside the powerpoint, and works with Microsoft Office 2007 and up. Also included is the PDF file just in case you want to use that instead. There's also a non-standard font included which you need to install if you use the powerpoint and there are directions included in the ZIP file how to install. If you're in the neighborhood of comparing and contrasting rhythms, this interactive activity may be for you and your younger kids! In "It's the Same Difference!", two students are called to the Interactive White Board and compete against each other (the default title is Team 1, Team 2, but you can do boys vs girls, colors, etc). Two melodic figures are played back to back and the students will then drag (using the IWB pan) a "SAME" box or "DIFFERENT" box to their respective answer box and lock in their answer. Advance the slide and the answer is displayed! The rotation goes 9 more times with more students permitted to come to the IWB. This activity can be modified and does not need to be used on an IWB. Students can be split into groups, write on personal whiteboards, or can call answers independently. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them in the section. Thank you!

Learning about Woodwinds but don't have a lot of music examples to test the kids? Here's your answer! After a short introduction video about woodwinds, students will learn about the 5 main woodwind instruments, flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, and the bassoon. After they hear the timbre of each instruments, they will have to identify each instrument after hearing it played. You can do this a few ways! You can print a blank template from the powerpoint, laminate it, distribute to students, and have them mark as they go along and erase after they answer is revealed Alternatively, you can run the entire powerpoint (or PDF) and have them guess after the example is played. When their answer is ready, you will advance in the slide and the answer will be revealed! Reviewing the families of instruments with your kids? In Instrument Pick-em, students will hear a musical example of a woodwind, brass, percussion, or string instrument. They will then see a multiple choice listing of an assortment of instruments. They will then have to decide which instrument on the screen best matches the example being played.

Great for class, boy vs girl, individually assigned, or even for Distance Learning!
