Thanksgiving Rhythm Composition Printables!

Switching gears into November, we present to you "Thanksgiving Rhythm Compositions" for your students!
Included are two printable and reproducable 8.5x11" sheets with 9 thanksgiving themed rhythms on them. Print these out and use to have students, groups of students, or even teachers and interns compose their own rhythms!
Print, cut, and go! Included rhythms are quarter note, eighth note pairs, triplets, and four sixteenth note
WRITE THE ROOM - NFL Notation Edition!

The newest sensation, "Write the Room" has an athletic twist to surely get your 4th and 5th grade boys engaged too as we present to you an NFL Notation version of the popular game!
In Write the Room, students will all receive a sheet of paper with 9 answer boxes with an NFL logo representing each box. There will be 9 sheets (placed strategically around the room by you!) that students will have to find and write the rhythm down that accompanies that logo. Once all 9 answers are completed, they will show to you to verify that all rhythms are correct!
To play:
Play some music in the background and have the kids roam around the room as fast as they can. Neatness counts! :D
How do you find a winner? Up to you! Top 3, Top 5, best handwriting, fastest pair, fastest group, up to you!

Print these out as a class set, individually, or however you deem appropriate to use in your music classroom. Whether students are composing their own rhythms to perform, using rhythms for a dictation assignment, or any other creative usage (such as flash cards or improvisation), this will have you set to go!
Included rhythms are in the preview (from quarter, halves, and wholes down to sixteenths and triplets) and contains 37 pages of rhythms you're free to print out!
Fast Food Rhythms (Printable Worksheet)

Think your kids know rhythms? Challenge them with matching familiar their favorite drive thru verbiage in the form of Fast Food Rhythms, a printable worksheet for your students!
There are four rhythms that line the sheet (variations of quarter and eighth note pairs) along with terminology on the side. Which fast food phrase (restaurant, entree, side dish, etc) matches the rhythm? Simply identify and ask the students to write it down, easy as ordering a frosty!
Automotive Rhythms (Printable Worksheet)

Think your kids know rhythms? Challenge them with matching familiar italiano verbiage in the form of Pizza Rhythms, a printable worksheet for your students!
There are four rhythms that line the sheet (variations of quarter and eighth note pairs) along with terminology on the side. Which italian phrase (topping, style, etc) matches the rhythm? Simply identify and ask the students to write it down, easy as a pizza pie!
Listening Cards (Printables and Powerpoint Images)

If you're working on melodic contours, high and low, and direction, this may be for you!
Included are 16 printable cards you can reproduce, cut out, and issue to your students.
Play these melodies on a piano, clarinet, slide whistle, however you wish! Then, ask the students to place the card which they think best resembled the melody you played.
Although there are 16 cards, you can ask students to do 4 cards a time (by telling them which cards they are to us), play the melody, and then they can choose from the multiple choice answers you allotted to them.
The image files can be put into a powerpoint as well and you can us it as an answer key after you play the melodic example.

All arrangements are an 8.5 x 11 PDF which can be projected on a whiteboard, IWB, or printed out for student use Each colorful arrangement uses the 1 octave C diatonic scale of the boomwhackers and each piece focuses on a specific trait, tailored to meet the needs of your students. Mystery Word! - Student Printables

Working on the lines of the treble clef staff? Here's a fun way to have your students use their knowledge and solve a puzzle with Mystery Word! The Mystery Word package includes 50 challenging words and/or phrases that are spelled using the musical letters (A,B,C,D,E,F, and G) of the treble clef staff. Blank letter boxes are below the note on the staff for the students to fill in. Some words and phrases are easy, but some get pretty difficult! Included are three files: The teacher version, a PDF file with 50 pages in PDF format to use as a class activity. The student version, a PDF file you can print out with 25 pages, 2 puzzles to each page you can individual give to students. (If printed out and copied back-to-back, it only runs 13 pages per booklet) The answer key (just in case a substitute teacher needs it) ;) You can use this as a warmup to your lesson, or a lesson in itself -- it makes a great substitute teacher plan as well! It gets kids to critically think about the lines of the staff to fill in the blanks... my kids love it as it's fun and challenging. Would love to hear feedback how it's working in your classrooms. If you're working on reading rhythms with your little ones, you may love this! This powerpoint pairs up barnyard animals with quarter and eighth note rhythms. Have them decipher it with syllables and attempt to align them with the rhythm, and then they students are left to decide which rhythm corresponds to the animal in question. You can play this as a class or print out as an activity. There are 13 beautifully crafted examples your kids will love!

The BRASSroom - Identifying Brass Instruments

Learning about Brass but don't have a lot of music examples to test the kids? Here's your answer! After a short introduction video about brass, students will see a powerpoint with 4 blank circles with a trumpet, trombone, french horn, and tuba below it. The teacher will then play an example of the instrument being played, and students have to figure out which instrument it belongs to You can do this a few ways! You can print a blank template from the powerpoint, laminate it, distribute to students, and have them mark as they go along and erase after they answer is revealed Alternatively, you can run the entire powerpoint (or PDF) and have them guess after the example is played. When their answer is ready, you will advance in the slide and the answer will be revealed!
