These Dolch sight word flash cards and posters are excellent for students to practice reading high frequency words and improve sight word identification and fluency. They are also a fun and engaging way to practice reading skills at home as a homework distance learning tool to use for the mastery of sight words.

Help your students build better reading skills using these Dolch sight word flash cards for word work activities. These high frequency word cards can be used whole group, small group, in centers, for homework practice, or for word walls.

Sight words instruction is an excellent supplement to phonics instruction. Phonics is a method for learning to read in general, while sight words instruction increases a child’s familiarity with the high frequency words he will encounter most often. Think time allows children a safe outlet to bounce around ideas of what they did, where they went wrong, and what they are going to do about it. It allows children to process the information without feeling the need to become defensive or protect themselves. They can problem solve and come up with their own solutions, allowing for tremendous personal growth and development!

Think time allows everyone to take a step back, think about what happened, and why it didn’t work, as well as provide time to brainstorm solutions. This is a very effective coping skill that we should instill in our young people as early as possible.
