How can you use these task cards?

• Have the task cards available in makerspaces, centers, tubs, busy boxes, morning baskets, or available for early finishers to complete using ANY available materials. Students can even draw their creations instead of building them!

• Use one card a day during morning time. Have students fill out a STEAM / STEM worksheet or discuss and use the Google Slides as a class.

• Use them for public speaking practice. Allow students to build and then show and tell with the class or their parents. They can discuss what they made, liked, what they would improve, and how it solved the problem on the task cards. They can practice speaking and listening skills, using loud and clear voices, and giving full attention to the speaker. Encourage students to ask questions to their classmates.

• Ideally the goal is to do one challenge a day, but you could certainly allow students to do more than one.

Why do I think you will love this product, and what makes my challenge set unique?

I love silly stories that bring humor and adventure to life for kids, but also that force them to use their imaginations in fun and exciting ways. This challenge task set does exactly that through the loose wacky stories where they are the main character. Silly scenarios, adventure and disaster, problem solving, and learning, are all part of the experience when building these challenges.

Most building challenge task cards are independent from each other. “Build a boat,” or “build an airplane,” are common themes among the cards. While those are fantastic, and we have done many of them ourselves, I wanted to do something different and more cohesive and engaging for kids.

The only rule is to HAVE FUN and allow those imaginations to soar!

How do I set up the activity?

Just print and play! Everything you need is included in your download. You don’t need locks (you can prepare one or even use my digital lock included in this kit if you wish to), envelopes, or special equipment. You can hang or hide the puzzles or just spread them out on the kitchen table.

Do I have to print out the game materials for every kid?

Nope! You ONLY have to print out the answer sheet for each kid or group. Just one set of the actual puzzles is all you need! If you choose to use the digital version to save paper and ink, then you will only need to print the QR codes for the Mission (get the kids to scan and read this first), Hint Cards and Puzzle Tasks 1-9.

Do I have to print out the Mystery Door for the game?

Nope! I suggest that you show the picture of the door + QR code on your phone or laptop for pupils to scan and enter their 4-digit secret code. You can also use an actual lock where the kids can actually enter the 4-digit secret codes to complete the game.

⭐Have the task cards available in makerspaces, centers, tubs, busy boxes, morning baskets, as a reward, or available for early finishers to complete using ANY available materials. Students can even draw their creations instead of building them!

⭐Use one card or slide a day during morning time. Have students fill out a STEAM / STEM worksheet or slide, and discuss as a class.

⭐Use them for public speaking practice. Allow students to build and then show and tell with the class or their parents. They can discuss what they made, liked, what they would improve, and how it solved the problem on the task cards. They can practice speaking and listening skills, using loud and clear voices, and giving full attention to the speaker. Encourage students to ask questions to their classmates.

⭐Ideally the goal is to do one challenge a day, but you could certainly allow students to do more than one!

This creative Geometric Shapes Collage: Art Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on the big screen. For this assignment, I asked students to make a Geometric Shapes Collage showing squares, rectangles, triangles, and/or circles. Students get to choose three of their favorite colors to work with. Students choose which colors go on top the base color papers. Students learned folding, cutting, gluing, and placing (overlapping) skills during this 1-to-2-Day Art Unit. This creative Stained-Glass Tree Painting Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked students to practice drawing different trees. Next, I taught students how to draw a tree that has branches extending to the edge of the paper. I demonstrated how to outline and fill in the tree. Students created their own stained-glass tree artwork on Final Copy Paper. Students outlined and colored their artwork. Students used mostly watercolor paints for their artwork. Teaching students how to make good choices, as well as the difference between good choices and poor choices is crucial. Teach children decision-making skills and how to make good choices with this cut and glue puzzle activity for elementary students. 

This resource includes six cut and glue activity sheets, all featuring different situations. Students cut out the situation puzzle pieces, and sort them based on if they are good or poor choices. They then glue the puzzle pieces into their proper places on their worksheets. 

It is simple, yet highly effective!

This creative It’s just a Circle! Or is it? : Art Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on the big screen.

For this assignment, I asked students to make an awesome artwork out of a simple “circle”. Students start with a brainstorming circle paper. After brainstorming different circle designs, students choose their favorite for a Final Copy Paper. Art materials could be colored pencils, crayons, watercolor paint, and/or color sharpies. *CONTRAST, PATTERN, REPETITION, MOVEMENT, ETC. This is a 2-3-day assignment.
