MyiVew 2nd Grade Literacy Word Sorts on Google Slides
By Professional Development and Teacher Prep
This adapted resource has every word list (word sort) from 2nd Grade's MyView Literacy or Savvas Realize reading program.
Did you know it has been proven that when students use word sorts, they understand their words longer and deeper? There is a Google Document with links to Google Slides for every list. Students will move the words into the correct phonics skill category. You will add an assignment to your Google Classroom and click the option to have every student make a copy. Students will go back to the page to turn it in.
This is also an excellent resource to project the words on the Smartboard or screen for students to see while the teacher is explaining the directions or teaching the phonics skill.
Here is what I do for spelling class each week.
Remote:
Monday: Students will turn in their word sort assignment.
Tuesday: Students will use the word sort again to try to move the words faster.
Wednesday: Students will write down words on a piece of paper at home or draw a picture and write the words inside.
Thursday: Students will choose an activity to do from a choice board to work on their spelling words.
Friday: Students will sign onto a Google Meet to take their quiz.

MyView Savvas Realize 2nd Grade Spelling Word Sorts
By Professional Development and Teacher Prep
This is ALL the printable 2nd grade word sorts for Pearson Savvas Realize Grade 2. The reading program is also known as MyView Literacy.
Did you know it has been proven that when students use word sorts, they understand their words longer and deeper?
There is a Google Document with links to Google Slides for every list. Print the lists for a hands-on experience of word sorting. Students will cut out the words on the sides of the paper and sort them based on the spelling or phonics pattern. The words may appear small on the screen, but once you print the slide, the words are perfect to read.
Word sorts are important for students to learn spelling words because they provide a hands-on and interactive approach to developing spelling skills. Here are some reasons why word sorts are beneficial:
Here is what I do for spelling class each week.
Monday: Students will cut out and move their words into the correct spelling pattern category. Some words on our lists do not fit the category. We would consider those words oddballs. You can place those words outside the list but still practice saying the words out loud. Students will keep their words in a bag in their desk or chair pocket until the next day.
Tuesday: Students get their words back out and try to sort the words quicker. (Speed Sort).
Wednesday: Students will write their words in their notebook as a list or draw a picture and write their words inside of the picture.
Thursday: We use a different organizer (worksheet) each week to practice our words.
Friday: We take our quiz.
