Math Mystery- Case of the Leprechaun's Lost Loot (Area)
By Miss Yous Clues and Resources
This is a math mystery that is specifically aligned to the 3rd grade Engage NY and Eureka math module 4 on area. This resource would also be a great for review of area for 4th grade students prior to the state test. This resource includes a scenario, a suspect list, 5 clues that students will solve to find the culprit and answers keys to all pages. Area concepts practiced in this are: determining multiplying length x width, determining area using tiling, finding the missing side length, find area of irregular shapes by decomposing rectangles and area word problems.
This resource would be great to use as a review before the end of module assessment, before state tests, as a math lesson to leave for a substitute teacher, uses individual clues as daily center work over the course of a week, etc.
My students absolutely love doing these! They especially love predicting who the culprit is prior to beginning the clues to see if they could guess it correctly!
Multiplication Files - Multiplication Facts Tabbed Booklets for 1's to 12's
By Sassycat Corner
Multiplication facts. Perhaps one of the most important skills for a student to learn in order to perform most math operations in the upper grades. These fact booklets provide students ample opportunity to work with their multiplication facts, both in ways that help them UNDERSTAND the facts and commit them to memory from repeated use. There are 12 booklets in this packet, one for each set of facts from one to twelve. Each booklet has 9 half sheet size pages, plus a cover. Students work with facts while filling in number bonds, doing find a number puzzles, skip counting on a hundreds board, doing repeated addition, writing their facts, working with arrays, working with fact families, and playing spinner / dice games. Simply print the booklets your students need, and either assemble yourself, or teach your students to assemble them! Easy to make, fun to do, and great practice without the feeling of "yet another worksheet". Also included is a student chart for up to 30 students to allow you to track your students progress. Want to know more? Download the preview file. It contains the pages needed to print and assemble the first book in the set, Working with Ones. This set also compliments Eureka Math, Grade 3, Modules 1 and 3 well, as many of the pages utilize methods taught in the program. See below for even more multiplication fact practice ideas! By Bright Classroom Ideas Marketplace
Fractions represent the parts of a whole or collection of objects. A fraction has two parts. The number on the top of the line is called the numerator. It tells how many equal parts of the whole or collection are taken. The number below the line is called the denominator. It shows the total number of equal parts the whole is divided into or the total number of the same objects in a collection. When the whole is divided into equal parts, the number of parts we take makes up a fraction. If a cake is divided into eight equal pieces and one piece of the cake is placed on a plate, then each plate is said to have 1/8 of the cake.
This ebook is an gradual and easy introduction to fractions. It is designed especially for Grade 3. There re many colourful activities included, and their answers are provided at the end.
