Social-Emotional Learning

Listening to classical music has been shown to help with self-awareness, empathy, and self-regulation. Since social-emotional learning is essential for children, incorporating classical music into your classroom or homeschool is a great way to support their development.

Talk about the emotions evoked by the selected music. What does the music make them feel? Happy? Sad? Anxious? Peaceful? Help students identify and label their feelings. Ask open-ended questions about the music and encourage students to share their thoughts and feelings.

Discuss the different instruments used in the piece of music. What does each instrument contribute to the overall sound? Encourage students to make up a story based on the music. What is happening in the story? Who are the characters? Where does it take place?

While listening, students can draw a picture or scene that comes to mind. What colors are used? What shapes? Why?

Listen and Color - While listening, students color the scene and choose the keywords/elements that resonate with their listening experience. There is lots of room for drawing, coloring, and journaling in the box! Students often engage in discussions about what they've heard or felt. Great for displaying!

Easel Activity

Pair an engaging digital listening board with these musical selections! Students use the highlight tool to choose from keyword lists that describe their listening experience. An answer box at the bottom allows students to write a brief description of their thoughts and feelings. Adaptive Books with a fall prepositions theme cover a variety of prepositions (in, on, around, behind, beside, above, and under. This set of adapted books includes four books!

Two books require your students to follow the directions to put icons in the correct place. Each book has eight different pictures to place appropriately in the book. Where's the Worm is a game for centers or whole group instruction where an worm is hidden behind an apple. A poem is chanted where the student(s) must say the sight word they think the worm is behind. Once guessed, the sight word is removed. If the worm is behind the apple, then the worm must be hidden again to play further. If the worm is not behind the apple, then the poem is chanted again with a new sight word.

This is the perfect bundle of resources for your young learners during the Fall/Thanksgiving season. - Turkey-Themed Tracing Cards: This resource is perfect for your writing center. There are both Uppercase & lowercase letters Aa-Zz as well as numbers 1-20 that your students can practice identifying and tracing as well.

- Turkey-Themed Flashcards: This resource can be used for so many activities. There are Uppercase and lowercase letter flashcards, as well as number flashcards, and shape flashcards included. You can use them for your students to practice identifying each number are turn it into a game of matching the items together.

- Thanksgiving Task Cards | Letter Match Activity | Fall -Themed:

These task cards are a great fall learning activity. There are both thanksgiving-themed letter cards as well as number cards.

- Turkey Themed Play-doh Mats:

These play-doh mats are perfect for letter recognition as well as helping your students practice forming each letter in a fun hands on way. There are both Uppercase and lowercase letters in this packet and the turkey theme and colors make the play-doh mats fun!Each letter task card has an Uppercase letter on the turkey as well as #3 different lowercase letters on the right side of the card to choose from. Your students will then clip a clothespin on the correct lowercase letter that matches the letter on the turkey. This is a great fine motor activity as well as a great way to practice matching Uppercase and lowercase letters together.

Number Count & Match Activity | Thanksgiving-Themed:

The thanksgiving-themed number cards have a different amount of thanksgiving items from 1-10 on each one. The students will count how many items are on each task card and then attach a clothespin to the matching number on the right.

- Thanksgiving Craft (My Thanksgiving Dinner): This is a fun writing/cutting Thanksgiving activity for your students. There is a “dinner plate” you can either keep on the paper or cut out and glue on a separate piece of construction paper or any paper of your choice. Once that is done there are #3 different pages of #30 different food items that your students can cut out and choose what they want their thanksgiving dinner to look like. Once they have cut the pieces out they will then glue the foods they want for their thanksgiving dinner onto the dinner plate.

Once your students have chosen what food they want for their thanksgiving dinner and glued it onto their plate they will practice tracing the words for each food item. Once they have cut out the words they need they can glue them to the paper I created or any blank paper of your choice. Then once that is done have them glue the words to the bottom of their plate paper and display their art in the classroom or send it home to parents.

Or if you have some independent writers you can have them write the words independently without the last step of tracing and gluing.

This creative Salvador Dali Melting Clock Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I asked students to practice drawing melting clocks. Next, I taught students how to draw a Dali-melting clock. I demonstrated how to draw a melting clock with numbers, step-by-step. Students created their own melting clock drawing on Final Copy Paper. Students outlined and colored their artwork. Younger grades used crayons. Older grades used oil pastels. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.
