DIRECTIONS FOR USE

WORKSHEETS

No-Prep, just print and go. You can use just the cut and paste pages or also pass out the additional sentence writing page that matches. The second page can also be used for early finishers. The ABC cut and paste worksheet has the alphabet listed as a reference. The sentences page has an editing checklist on it.

LITERACY CENTER

Cut apart the 26 picture/word cards and place in center. Print one or both recording sheets and place in center. Students choose 6 picture/word cards, copy those 6 words onto their cut and paste sheet, then complete their worksheet. If you place the second worksheet at the station, then students will choose 4 of their words to practice writing sentences with.

A four-lesson biography project about the life of English playwright, William Shakespeare. The NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in third grade or fourth grade. Students will learn about the famous figure whilst working on their comprehension skills and developing their creative writing.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

File Folder Uppercase & lowercase Letter Match:

This is a great file folder game for your students. It’s a fun way for your students to practice matching the correct Uppercase and lowercase letters together. There is #2 pages of Uppercase letters as well as #1 page of lowercase letters.

Print, laminate and attach the #2 pages of the Uppercase Letters (pumpkins) to a file folder. Then cut out and laminate the pumpkin seeds with the lowercase letters on them.

I would recommend getting small velcro dots and attaching them to the front top of the pumpkins as well as the back of the pieces of the pumpkin seeds to make the matching process easier.

Guided reading group time has always been a favorite time in my classroom. Students love the closeness of the small group and reading a book chosen just for them! Your students will thoroughly enjoy walking with the zombies in this book. Stink and the Midnight Zombie Walk is book seven in the Stink series. The format is half page (my students LOVE the smaller booklet format). I like to print the booklets on colored paper. A NOVEL STUDY and Reading Comprehension Unit for DRAGON MASTERS #11 Shine of the Silver Dragon by Tracey West.

This 48 page BOOK COMPANION is a highly engaging and comprehensive literature unit that allows your students to respond to a story by using a wide range of reading comprehension strategies and skills.

With comprehension questions and activities for each chapter, students will cover a wide range of the English Curriculum Standards in context.

The unit can be followed chapter by chapter, with no extra preparation or planning required by the teacher.
