Tornado poke cards are a great independent, partner or guided reading group comprehension activity. My students love the poke card process and enjoy checking each other when they answer questions. The poke cards are self checking. Students will answer the question by selecting one of three choices. Using a pencil, straw, or pipe cleaner, students will poke through the hole to choose their answer. The correct answer will have a mark above or around the hole. The poking process quickly engages the students and provides immediate feedback to them. Cards have chapter titles on them for ease of organization.

Guided reading group time has always been a favorite time in my classroom. Students love the closeness of the small group and reading a book chosen just for them! Stink and the Ultimate Thumb-Wrestling Smackdown is book six in the Stink series. The format is half page (my students LOVE the smaller booklet format). I print the pages on one side of the paper. This allows the back of the page available to use for additional notes or vocabulary work. Included in the packet: -comprehension questions for each chapter -short word work review task for some chapters -art connection opportunity -answer key for selected activities Stink and the Ultimate Thumb-Wrestling Smackdown is an AR level 3.0 book.
