This resource includes one Peer Evaluation Rubric in three variations - Same content. Editable versions are included, so you can modify in such a way that meets the needs of your students and instructional plans!

The Peer Evaluation Accountable Talk Discussion Rubric is meant for students to use and asses each other during Class Talk. Before beginning a discussion or debate, give each student a Peer Evaluation Rubric with another student’s name on it. (You can decide who will asses who, or you can just randomly write the names on Rubrics). Ask students to “secretly” observe and assess that student’s participation during the class discussion or debate. Students should not know who is assessing who so that evaluations of participation are fair. Throughout the discussion or debate, students will take meaningful notes of their classmates’ performances. At the end of the discussion or debate, give them 5 minutes to score the student whose name is on their Peer Evaluation Rubric. Finally, students can go up to the person they were observing and hand them the rubric. At the very end, the teacher collects the rubrics for review. This has worked so well for me! Students were always “on their toes." Students found it so exciting to be observed by classmates and also observe others.

Students' reflection of classroom talk helps them identify areas and skills that need both improvement and enrichment. This is a discussion activity to go along with the Lorax movie. There are 6 prompts for students to discuss. Either in a whole group or split into groups, the students will discuss the prompts. This is a great activity to go along with after watching, good practice with supporting their claims and opinions with facts, and good practice for their discussion skills!

Disccusion Prompts

There are 6 different different prompts for the students to discuss. Cut out each prompt so the groups can have the prompt they need to focus on. I would recommend either splitting them into groups and passing the prompts out, or taping the prompts to the wall and have the groups move to each spot in the room for the prompt.

The prompts will have the students discussing characters, real world applications, greed, and theme!

Product Information:

These editable award templates are in PowerPoint form. You will download files in a flattened and secured PowerPoint file format. This format will allow editing and rearranging of text, text changes and editing font colors, etc. You can rearrange the lines and add logos and clipart where room allows. Please note that Clipart is not editable.

If you do not have PowerPoint then you can use a free on-line version at www.officelive.com - you just need to create an account.

You can change the font to whatever you prefer - I know I have favorites! The font used in the templates are free font. Potato Chips font and Poppins fonts are used and can be downloaded for free (personal use only) by clicking on the links.

The Writing Awards or Certificates are designed to fit on 8.5" x 11" paper and can be reduced or enlarged at the time of printing if needed or can be printed 2 or 4 per page using your printer's settings. If A4 size is needed then you can adjust the template to fit A4 paper size at the time of printing by clicking FIT TO PAGE. Border-free printing will depend on your printer's capability and settings.

The awards and certificates are for classroom and/or personal use of the person downloading only.

3 Little Pigs with a twist- Part of my first story of my Bilingual Series

Tales with a twist is designed to give students a familiar feel, but with surprising elements throughout the story.

It is not direct translation rather I focused in translating the stories in a way they feel right and are authentic.

I used this resource with one of my guided reading groups. They completed the packet as they read the story "Junie B., First Grader Toothless Wonder #20" by Barbara Park. If they finished they could choose from the extra activities. Answer key is included!
